SOLD AS OF 8/3/24
Well…the time has come to sell my beloved TDI…Life circumstances have changed and I need something bigger for my wife, 2 older kids and a dog.
I am the 2nd owner. I’ve had this car since 2006 and it’s been the best car I’ve ever had. Following the advice on this forum, I’ve driven it “properly” with regular revving above 3,000 RPM and the occasional Italian tune (when properly warmed up).
The car has lived its whole life in the Eugene, OR area; no ocean salt and no winter road salt, mild climate. It lived in a garage from 2009 to 2022, and outside the rest of the time.
I have absolutely loved the TDI community over the years and my preference is this car goes to one of you fine people who will cherish it. Please don’t buy it for your idiot teenager to crash!

- Nearly every tank was B20 or higher, and the last couple years have been 100% renewable diesel. All fuel came from ASTM commercial sources with regular turnover and no quality issues/claims.
- Occasional Diesel Purge added to tanks
- There’s a new coolant leak as of a few weeks ago. Not sure where it’s coming from. It is intermittent and only happens after shutting down and also after it’s sat for a couple days. It’s a leak for sure, with spots on the pavement when it happens.
- For a few years the clutch has had a slight stutter when the engine is super cold or the car has sat for a few days. It’s only in 1st gear when you first get going. When the engine is warm, or when shifting in other gears it’s not there. Overall engagement of the clutch and performance is normal. I normally use the Frostheater every day, regardless of time of year, so I rarely notice the clutch shudder.
- The glovebox thing is broken that slowly lowers it down. The hinges are fine and it stays closed and it locks properly.
- Small Oil leak at EGR valve
- A couple years ago some jackass backed into the rear driver’s wheel well and dented it (see pics). I didn’t get around to fixing it.
- The driver’s side mirror was replaced in 2013 but I didn’t paint it. It’s totally functional, just doesn’t look super hot.
- The headliner started sagging a while back and I stapled it up.
- Some small seat tears in the cloth on driver’s side and rear driver’s side
- Some scratches on the rear seat from one time my cat got inside while the car was in the garage with the windows down
- Clear coat is a little haggard in a couple spots.
- Overall the car looks fabulous from 20+ feet away. Up close there are small scratches and tiny dimples and stuff you’d expect from 24 years on the road.
- Official VW “Winter Front” faux leather cover for the front vents to speed-up warm-up in winter
- Yakima roof rack bars/system if you’re interested
- Rear Thule bike rack, straps onto the trunk
- Pela oil extractor
- ~3L of unused oil
- 5 gallon plastic yellow diesel fuel can
- Oil filter cap wrench adapter
- 2 unused fuel filters
- ~½ jug of VW red coolant
- Original VW owner’s manual and radio code
