The time has come for someone else to enjoy this awesome car.

All the details are in the below threads.
I've built and worked on multiple custom cars and can say with confidence that this one is well done. Charlie did a great job on it, I'd trust it to drive anywhere.
The Build by CharlieT
The original For Sale thread from 2015
Spare Engine details

In my ownership I've installed all the Diesel Geek 6 speed shifter parts, new tires, new battery, fixed the convertible top back glass and that's about it. Everything works - Power convertible top, home link garage door opener, windows, locks, A/C, no check engine lights, all gauges, radio, CD player and 6 disc changer, etc.

More pictures available upon request.

The car is not 100% perfect - The shifter boot is torn at the base, there's a door ding and scratch in the drivers door, the cover for the "ashtray" in front of the shifter is loose, the tops of the door cards are cracked internally at the top and there is an occasional exhaust rattle under load in reverse.

Car comes with service manual, all build documentation, differential wrench and fluid, leather shifter boot, strut tower brace and anything else I find for the car.

Asking $10,500 for the car and buyer has the option for the 2nd engine for $2000.

Odometer is at 88,392, clear title in hand, located in Milwaukee, WI metro area.
Best way to contact me is either on the forum here or at fixuntilbroke at gmail.

There are just too many to list....
Yeah, even the Audi A5 Cabriolet can't really do that... it only has spots for two in its [tiny] back seat.

Very nice. My 2000 Audi TT (fwd) -> TDI (ALH) conversion is my daily driver. Body and engine are at just over 310k. I‘ve put 130k on it since the conversion in 2017. Maybe I should do another conversion?

I don't drive it as much as I'd like to, which is why it's for sale :) so someone else can enjoy it and do with it what it's meant to do - be driven.

This thing is really cool. I'm pretty sure I'm too big for it though. It'd look like I was putting it on to drive it. glws!

Hell of a deal for something so well executed. No way anyone is building one like it for this price, especially not if valuing their time at anything above $0/hr.

Beautiful car in a great color combo and with great choices made in terms of configuration and mods. Should make someone very happy, what an awesome daily driver. GLWS!

Yeah - given what people are asking for "meh" condition Mk4 cars, one done up this well is shockingly good value.
Probably the stumbling block is that the most people who value the ALH/Mk4 are also those who value the practicality of the Golf/Jetta in terms of people/stuff hauling, something at which the TT does not excel. 🫤

I’m pretty sure you could get a big box in the passenger seat maybe some 2x4’s if you really wanted it’s a convertible so you can use all the space above. Thus it is practical and now you can justify it lol.

^^ yeah. People forget that 99.9999% of their miles are done with just them in the car, in most cases.... maybe a kid riding along every now and then if anything else. Folks want to buy a car that accommodates every potential use case, which is how we wind up with a lot of the population commuting to work in diesel F-350s and Tahoes and the like..... capability to haul the whole family plus the travel trailer up a muddy hill in 4x4..... which it will do 3-5 times in its life.

Even a Golf or Jetta, the back seat gets used a few times a year for most folks, and same goes with maxing out the cargo capacity. Why not enjoy something like this most days of the year and keep an old beater pickup or van around for the few times a year it's needed? Or rent one?

I'd do it if I lived in a place where a convertible could be used more than a few weeks out of the year. Out here if it's not too cold and snowy, it's too hot and smoky.... really got nothing nice in between anymore, total of maybe a couple dozen days out of the year when top down would be pleasant. Seems like someone in the south, or even in CO or UT or something, could really enjoy this.

Adding a bump for an incredible car. Maybe look into listing on Bring-A-Trailer?

2005 Passat Wagon (BHW/5-spd conv, 03T). I keep in touch with the (2) ALH's I sold.
What does it return for fuel mileage? Does the Quattro deliver a big hit to mpg’s?

thanks!
