Info

Saturday Dec 3, 2011 9:00AM till Dusk (maybe Dec 4th also)

Show and Shine, Wrenching, Dyno GTG. No large jobs, but they said we can wrench. I will let a guru do work in my dual car port 5 minutes away, or Digital Corpus' garage 10 minutes away for the big jobs. I'm going to speak to them again about big jobs in the lot, let me see what I can do (They really liked our group last GTG). Also looking at an informal Sunday GTG if folks are interested.

An awning is nice this time, for possible rain instead of lots of sun =p. Let's hope for the best.

We donated $120 to TDIClub, let's do it again!

Dyno runs will start at 9:00am and end at 5:00pm (with a lunch break) and we will try to put as many cars down as we can. We will allot for about an hour per car. The limit may be 8 cars. Get there 30 min before your timeslot at least. We will adjust the amount of time if allowable so we can fit more cars. Can also take a slot if you want to take logs for your tuner versus driving at illegal speeds on the freeway. Also, the shop got an optical pickup just for us! Thanks Ian!

Sign up sheet is on second post.

Dyno $75 a vehicle
The shop is purchasing a optical pickup just for us! So we will get whp and torque. Their machine is a dynojet We will be paying for the full day and all extra money we receive we will donate to TDICLUB.

Anyone that is interested in a dyno must abide by some rules.
  1. We will abide by the rules the dynoshop gives us, it's their business :)
  2. No fluid leaks, we aren't looking to make a mess at someone's shop. A baby drip shouldn't be a problem.
  3. Car doesn't have running issues. Be considerate of other members, by not holding up the dyno day as we figure out why you have a strange thump, or your timing belt just fell off.
  4. Before your run, it is expected that the vehicle is warmed up and ready to go on the dyno.
  5. The limit may be 12 cars. I'm setting the lineup to be 7 cars with 5 alternates, to be realistic. We will adjust the amount of time for each car if allowable or at the discretion of the members. Just looking to be fair.
  6. Can also take a slot if you want to take logs for your tuner versus driving at illegal speeds on the freeway.
BBQ $5+ Donations

We can just do a big pot of chili (I'll make a vegan one too for some of you) and some quesadillas. (Onions, Cheese, Cilantro, Salsa type of condiment) It will be easy enough for me to do that one, I'll keep it simple this time =)

Bring drinks

Bring any "other drinks you may desire" (I implore you! we were dry last gtg!)

Tunes
If you are on the list, pm/email/call VwMikel about the tuning process. He will schedule it and fit in people the way he needs to. I'm sure he'd like to take care of as many of you as possible. Don't assume first come first serve =).

Wrenching
Depending on how much work people are looking for, we will have Matt98-AHU come down! So reply to the thread with what you need done, and we'll see if we can make it happen. If you want to do some wrenching in the lot that should be fine.

Parts
If anyone needs oem vw parts, we've got a parts manager coming. Give Fixmy59bug a pm.
If you need some parts from lets say Boraparts, maybe we can get Aaron to come out also.

Location

FSR Motorsports
5512 Arrow Hwy, #D
Montclair, CA 91763

Tuning shop that looks to have a bunch of 3000gt's, supras, evo's, 350z and all that :D

10 East Between the 57 and the 15. Exit Central go Left/North then Right/East on Arrow Hwy. About 45 minutes from downtown Los Angeles (I can do it in 30!)

Jeremy, you know I'm down for the dyno. If my car is broken, then I'll pay for someone else to dyno their car in my slot.
-Mainly just want to hang out and wrench
-Eat some chili
-Run a dyno to see how far I have to go
-Hopefully get some tuning done
Hope to meet oldpoopie and see everyone again.

Oops, replied to the wrong thread...
Both dates are a maybe for me. I may not yet be mobile from surgery. (ACL reconstruction)
Need Tune? - No, I'm way to weak and leaky for that :)
Need Mech? -Yes, I would LOVE to get some expert advice from someone who done a B4 GLX gas to TDI conversion. (Is this harness right? Is this computer right?)
Would like to have have some diagnostics run on the engine/turbo/fuel system.
Need Chili? - Absolutely.

Oh, and I will bring Hex-Can VagCom cable, laptop and misc tools. Will wrench for beer...

Awesome guys.

Matt, bring a caravan down, when California unites!

Carnie as the date gets closer reply back =) I'm glad my PM worked. I'll put you on the list anyways.

Anyone need a TB or clutch done? Couple big jobs will make it worthwhile for Oldpoopie to come down and guru it up.

Everyone getting a dyno, don't forget about taking your skidplates off, less time setting it up = more folks on the dyno.

Thanks for the dyno spot! I'll be recording each Dyno run again by the way and putting them up on my server again for all to see.

My place is more like 15 minutes away.

Since I'm a little hazy at an IQ of 3.5 and 2.5, I'm tempted to see if dropping it to 2.5 will do much of anything. I'm curious about the wiggled line at my upper band. I don't want it to get worse when I start modding in January.

As for additional work, I'd like some help removing the buildup on the intake ports. Never cleaned though out when I switched manifolds.

Are we going to do a drive again after all of it?

I want to Dyno my '83 Jetta TD (IDI) :D

If the '83 isn't running by then does Oldpoopie do IDI Timing belts? I can tow it there.

Coming to hang out, maybe wrench. I know what snow is, but what's wax?

Interested in Chiptuning from TDTuning: Potato or Tortilla?

I need parts: most likely candidate!

I want Chili!

I still need a new (or used) third injector for my B4 (anyone?) and someone to help me change it and clear my codes!

Thatooks like we'll be gone from the GTG until 1630 or 1700 because of the drive up there. Will the road be too populated for spirited driving?

@xyzero great to hear George, I'd send Oldpoopie a pm and confirm that he can do your idi for your. couple more big jobs and I bet he's a go.

@DC Depends on how many cars, and the bicycles... We could try 2pm. Unless you think that trip we took last time would be gratifying enough.

So, will there be anyone that can help with a/c problems? Fan went out, now a/c doesn't work. Fixed the fan, but a/c still not working.
