Never did I say it can't do what it's designed to do . But I have said is that it's use with a diesel pushes it's ability to function under all conditions smoothly without problems , anyone want to question that one with the current slamming issue ....... Also it's fairly simple that the more shifts you have the more wear there is internally . And that fast shifts without time for shafts to sync up and to diminish momentum differences has a price .durundal said:Rotary, why do you think that the DSG is performing the actual syncro mesh portion of a shift quickly enough to produce problems? It has (relatively) all the time in the world to mesh them on clutch A while the engine is powering clutch B. Given the feedback control between the engine and transmission to kill power and RPM match on the engine side to the transmission side (particularly with the temperature controlled DSG fluid on the clutches) it seems like it could handle the swap between clutch A and clutch B without issues as well.
The wet duel clutch pack system helps reduce the impact of quick shift but doesn't 100 % mitigate the costs of quick shifts . The 40k oil change interval is really short and screams extra wear that fills the fluid with clogging up particles .
I'm not saying the DSGs will make 100k+ miles , I'm sure that they can & will if cared for properly . But no one should expect anything close to multiple 100ks on the clock without a rebuild at least .
