The Skoda is a VW in LESS clothing and the VW is an Audi with less clothing.

My '06 has been extremly realible. Has 340K kms now. Original cam, hardly ever change the oil. Just top it off with Rotella 6t.

Define reliable... And you barely change your oil? I don't know if I would brag about that... But good for you I guess...?

Realible = doesn't break down, needs very little to keep it running. How's that?
I've been doing to very little oil change for over 10 years. Works well for me.

Unless electric vehicles give me the similar range I get with my TDI and 3 minutes of battery charging duration, I will keep driving my Diesels.

I think you're in the top 1% especially with a BRM but good for you

Same....electrics (or gassers) can be fast and fun all they want, but ill keep my MK4.

I like my TDI, and that's all it takes.....

I think internet forums skews the reality by alot. Things are not as bad as it seems but only the bad ones are posted.

Hey guys,

I still have my TDI golf as my sis uses it as a daily these days. Almost at 500k without issue. I still enjoy driving it as the mods remained in it. She doesn't realize what she's sitting in. The guys often at SEM shake their head and laugh at service cause they know what's up. Lol

I still drop in here and lurk. Have my other SIS's '04 TDI wagon with a blown auto to swap to 5spd soon.

True some people have moved on from tdi's and this site, but a few of us "old tdiclub folk" still meet up often to talk smack. Almost weekly. Shows, pubs, bbqs, or road trips. Use to post gtgs on the forum, but didn't get much interest, so convo went offline. Just people wanting to meet for wrench sessions, so it seemed like those easy gtg threads died off.

Its a fun community with good people.

Maybe its time for a coffee gtg? Eh Nigel, Fred??? I'll drag out the old local crew.

Later,
Pete

I like the sound of this. A GTG would be good. A agree with what you are saying Pete, the good old days of getting together and wrenching have seemed to disappear. I still remember the time Adam held the large GTG at the Hino dealer in Scarborough. Such a good time!
