I took some time over the holiday and painted the chrome main grill, fog grill trims, and the circle around the VW emblem using DupliColor MetalCast Anodizing Smoke color paint, and Duplicolor plastic adhesion promotor. I wanted a "black chrome" look - ended up to be a "smoke" look, but I really like the outcome. The grill slats were done over a year ago with TrimBrite blackout tape.

Before - stock chrome, badly sandblasted by road debris:

During: Adhesion Promotor application:

After MetalCast paint:

Still some reflection!

Grill only finished - but just sitting on car:

Final product installed:

The chrome fog grill trims and the chrome circle around the VW emblem were also MetalCast painted, and then clearcoated. The painted main grill portion was covered with clear protective film, hopefully this protects it better.

Thought about trying that, but went with the GLI nosepiece instead. Interesting look. I like it and I hope it holds up for you. Nice job!
