slow battery crank

I realise that it is cold and other members have mentioned battery life but my 2006 engin tends to turn over very slowly (especially when cold).
I have tried waiting for the glow plug light to go off or right away when sitting in the car with little differance. The car has always started even when it seems to turn over once and stop....then engin runs. I did replace the battery with new stock battery from the dealer and I don't believe that there is any differance from the 6.5 year old battery (210000 kms) that I replaced it with. Could I have a battery drain issue or a starter problem? How can I easily determine this? I encourage any input.
Start up may sound like this key in.. turn key..rrrrrr....rrrrrr..engine running. The starter does not run and run in fact it turns very little and I think the car starts easily as it does not need to turn over morre the 1 or 2 times (rrrrrr = 1 turn over of the motor)

Thanks for any suggestions

All turned back to VW. Now a 2017 Hundai Tuscon. Not a single squalk in 10k miles.
Place the car on a charger with the ability to supply heavy starting amps. Start the car and see what happens. If still slow, then possibly a ground problem or a failing starter motor. I rapid, then remember that all batteries are not created equal.

Get the battery and alternator load tested. Are you running heated seats, aux heater, heated mirrors and rear defroster too much? Too many of these will neglect battery recharge, so ensure you devote enough time and/or resources to the battery.

BTW did you know that many if not all TDI's keep the glowplugs glowing well after the light goes out.
