Does anyone else notice that there is a sloshing sound coming from the fuel tank area? When I back out of my garage or anywhere for that matter, come to a stop and then put into drive, you can hear sloshing coming from the rear of the vehicle. This sound seems to disappear when the tank gets closer to 3/4 full. Btw, has been doing it since new, only now remembered to post this issue.... I know, total tard!

Thanks in advance,

Eric

Come on now DD be nice:D although totally expected from you! To be fair, I have not heard it in any other vehicle I have ever owned. Struck me as odd to be able to hear it.

BTW, so nice to see that there is an abundance of smartasses on this site! Keeps me in good spirits daily

Well I do try! It was a serious question though, since I have not heard it in another vehicle. And why would the sound disappear at 3/4 tank and not simply continue till almost empty? Are there baffles that I am unaware of?

BTW thanks for the poor rating love it!

What makes you think I gave the one star rating? I don't even know you.

It could be the location of the tank in the car. I can hear sloshing in some cars and nothing in others. You may be correct about the baffles within the tank to limit movement.

DD, not directed at you, was directed at whomever gave the rating and was really just poking fun at it.... No worries! it's all good in my world. Just ask the voices.

As far as baffles go, the only time I have ever seen the inside of a fuel tank has been, a 66 Mustang, 72 Vette, and my 90 RX7. I dont recall seeing one in any of those, which is why I thought it odd that the sloshing disappears at around 3/4 tank instead of continuing until there is not a whole lot to actually move around?

Oh well, this seems to not be of to much importance so I will just chalk it up to a VW design feature! since the diesel runs so quiet they want you to be able to hear all of the fuel that you are saving while driving!

I could hear faint movement of fuel in my A4 Jetta at certain levels. Never gave it much thought.

It may be audible because the tank is made of plastic. Shoot your handguns more often and the noise will go away. :D

I hear it too in my A5. Although I thought "that's odd", I also thought "maybe diesel sloshes louder than gasoline" due to it's greater viscosity than gasoline.

Doc, glad to hear that I am not the only one! So strange to me that if this is normal that I have never heard it in any other vehicle that I have owned!

Oh well! Like I said earlier, gotta love the fact that the diesel is so quiet that you can actually hear fuel sloshing in the first place!:D
