It's getting close to the end of my trial, and so far I'm not too impressed. My main gripe is no punk rock station. Although my friends and family that ride with me from time to time seem to enjoy it, so I'm considering keeping it if the price is right. Just wondering what the consensus was and how much you're paying?

I let mine expire but the only reason is because I have a portable unit that has a lifetime sub. When I got my lifetime sub it cost 399.00 I know it's up to 699.00 I think. I like it but I have had mine sub before xm and sirus merged. I don't like that they talk over the songs on the 70's and 80's channels this started happening when sirus took over. Other than that I like it.

We've been on a quarterly billing for years - just transferred it over from the Sonata.

I renew with 5 months for 24.99 all the time. It's cheaper in the long run than doing the 1 year for like 96.

+1. Do this for both my cars and previous ones as well.

I make trips to California quite often and through the desert there isn't much except for Spanish and some oddball FM's. Sirius comes in handy.

I have it on 2 cars and use it especially on my North/ south trips each yr. I also am in the investing business and like the access to market conditions and information available. Car radios are worthless if you travel distances on a regular basis.

Thats pretty reasonable. If lifetime subscription is $699, $699 = around 12 years of paying $24.99/5 mos. I may take them up on that offer.

i have let mine expire. I did resubscribe a few times. If you let it expire youll get letters for 5$ a month. You can then call and "cancel" at the end of the promo period (normally 5 or 6 months) and they will give you the reduced rate again.

That makes the $24.99 thing sound like a hassle. I'm guessing if you don't make that call, you get billed at the full rate.

when you negotiate a renewal rate they ask for a credit card. say NO!! Bill me. they will say we cant do it without a credit card so than say "I guess I wont have it then" all of a sudden its ok without a credit card. If they have a card they will auto renew you on the card at the full highest price rate. thats how I did mine.

but I dont have it anymore. I found the stations I listened to had more ads then the radio stations did. And those ads were for male enhancement pills and escorts and other questionalble stuff that I didnt want to listen to, especially with the kids in the car.

Correct if you dont call they hit you the full price. Setting a reminder to call once every 5 months, maybe 10 min of your time. Well worth not paying the 144 yearly price.

I never subscribed in my Golf (I know this is a Jetta thread) and gave it another try when they had the two week free period recently. I was disappointed. I prefer streaming Pandora or Spodify when I want to listen to music, which frankly isn't often. I used Sirius for a while a few years ago and enjoyed it then, but it seems they've let time stand still and haven't improved their stations or selection at all in the past 5 years. I suspect they are not going to be around a lot longer.

I just added it to my B4 Passat. the ability to go back to the start of a programme is worth it.
I,'ve had in my work vehicle since it came out."

In the short time I've had it, I'm already noticing a lot of repeat playlists. Plus I was hoping for more from the talk radio than just rebroadcasting tv personalities along with the ads.

I've yet to try the internet radio streaming. My data plan is not that great, and to increase it would easily buy a sirius subscription.

I actually just cancelled Sirius in my '10 Golf. In my case I had 2 receivers in the car, one for regular Sirius and one for the traffic receiver in the Nav unit. I only listened to 2 or 3 stations on Sirius and haven't used the Nav in over a year (smartphone + Waze FTW) so decided to ditch it.

I never re-subbed. The music selection was not that great, like others said there are lots of repeat playlists on the stations I did like. Plus, the quality is crap. Regular FM radio is close on par, and HD radio kicks it's ass. Plus, I have mostly high quality MP3s on my phone and plenty of CDs. No point in having Sirius for me. Plus, they left a bitter taste in my mouth after I told them I am not interested in resubscribing and explicitly said PLEASE DO NOT BOTHER ME TO RESUB! Yet, VW or the dealership gave them my info and they keep sending me mail flyers every couple months. I don't want your sh*t, get the hint.

Nice to have

I take 3 to 4 hour road trips every other week through some pretty spotty radio reception areas. I find Sirius to be a nice option. They have a music only option that I might check out when my latest 6 month deal expires in Oct. I don't listen to sports or Stern, so this might be a better choice for me.

I find streaming to be a pain in the neck in the car, especially if I want to change stations, but maybe I'm just not doing it right.:p

I never renewed since the main reason I would want it is for traffic alerts. Charlotte is not large enough to warrant a traffic channel. so...

I did keep it mainly because I drive in areas that have spotty radio reception.

Punk rock can be found on Faction were they bring the F to Action. Anyway, it isn't enough punk rock in my opinion. It isn't even a dedicated punk station, it splits time with rap, and Jason Elis. I am in agreement with the lack of punk, they need a classic punk and a new punk station. I guess there aren't too many people who listen to it to justify a station for Sirius. Then again there are several stations that I would think are really useless, and can't imagine people listening to them, like porn radio(what is this hands free driving), the 20s, the 30s,(those people have to be dying off by now), several religous stations, and a few others that seem like a real niche audience would be involved in, sorta like the punk rock niche the only difference being that the punk rock community is not being served well.

Great thing that a lot of people don't know is that if u subscribe u can put Sirius in more than one vehicle so when we got it with the jetta I immediately called and they sent a box to plug in my 88 Chevy so both our vehicles have Sirius

I kept it because I drive a lot out of my home area and don't always want to hunt for NPR and classical music stations. Got a Mostly Music package two year subscription that works out to about $11 a month.

I have found faction, they advertise a punk show at night. so far I have yet to be driving at that time. Otherwise, Slurry Pumper said it pretty good.

I just got my external hard drive hooked up in the car. I've got everything I've collected over the past 20 years on there. I think I will try this for a while and see how it goes.

I keep it. Mainly sports radio, talk radio, traffic. Oh, and the comedy channels.
I don't tune it into music very often, unless the wife is with.
