After refusing their offer of $12.95/month and $12.95 for the first three months, Sirius agreed to $77/yr for Sirius Everthing with no automatic renewal. They did get me for an additional $11.78 for music royalties and $5.55 in tax - total $94.33.

Ditto for me a few weeks ago. It took 3 phone calls, 3 different Sirius reps, finally said "Forget it, I'll let it expire". They then asked if I would mind talking to customer service to explain my reasons for letting it expire.

Thirty seconds later, I got the $77/yr. deal.

I hated that automatic renewal. Especially, when you see the charge after a month or so. In my 84 300D (loved that car), they charged me after I told them the car was sold six months later (automatic renewal).

What you do with Sirius is let it expire for about a month and they start sending you mail will very good deals to get you back. Works for
me every time. I got 6 months for the price of two. And btw no royalties or
other fees.

What happens when your free 6 month trial is up? do they automatically send you bills or will it stop working and then they call asking for cash?

It stops working and it's up to you to call and renew (or go online).

I renewed for a lifetime for $425, and can switch units up three times for $75 a pop. I thought it was a good deal.

I hope this helps some one.

Just had mine done for a total of $87 for the entire (next) year. Thanks to those (including the OP) for the tip!!!:)

However be carefull about one thing, when I called I had 2 weeks left on my current sub. When they told me my new sub annual end date, they only extended me 1 year from the day I called in. This means that I was going to lose 2 weeks of already paid subscription. Be sure to ask for you new sub end date to verify that you are not losing any sub time already paid for. ;)

Also, in order to get the $77 price, I too had to talk to someone in customer service about dropping my service prior to them offering it!!!! And don't even waste any time asking a sales person about any discounts or the $77 yr sub price..... they don't know anything about it.

Well...SIRIUS died half way home tonight as my free 6-months expired. Called and first rep said $142...I said I wanted $77...she said there is no $77 promo...I said let me talk to your superviror...she said how about $116...I said please let me talk to your supervisor...supervisor said I needed a promo code...I said I didn't have one...he said he really couldn't do anything...I said sure you can...he came back and gave me the $77 deal. Why do they make it so hard:confused:

Now I can go to work tomorrow and listen to my radio again:D

They make it hard because $116 is more than $77!! By $39!!

Reminds me of an old Abbott and Costello routine.

They wanted me to renew back in July. I explained that I had been laid off, and if they could not get both radios close to $10 / month, I was going to terminate the service. They cam back with $12/mo. I accepted their offer.

It's in the timing, and how you negotiate.

I only listen to about five stations. Even $77 isn't justified when only that small group of channels interests you.

Maybe...but consider this: you live in rural, hilly america, where radio signals are sketchy at best. Either listen to MP3 CD's or radio you can receive in almost any terrain. And, with Sirius, you can get national news and major metro area traffic.

It all depends on your needs and what you are willing to pay.

I live in San Diego, Hilly but far from rural. I have amassed quite a music collection and top 40s just don't cut it. News? I try to not concern myself with everyone else's stress. Weather? This is San Diego? Do I need a report of the four cloudy days we have.... really? Traffic? Like the tide, it's guaranteed. As cool a service as it is for everyone who can take full advantage of it, it's just not for me. (maybe i should sell my sat module...)

I'm about due for a renewal, they called last week. But wouldn't budge off of 129$? I think it was. I'll have to call them up to see if I can jump on the $77 band wagon.

Don't worry, they will call you incessantly, and never stop. After a month or so, they sent me the $77 offer. I had to choose where my money was going, and I picked to continue my TomTom Live service instead.

yes.... but do they turn off the radio or automatically charge you for the extended service? i'm ok with putting up w/ some phone calls but nothing burns me more than the "assumed" consent and automatic renewal.

They can only auto renew you if you have given them a CC# and have already agreed to an auto renewal membership.

I have recieved onlyone phone call as of yet. Now hopeing to get another one so I can get the $77 deal without having to call them or get disconnected.

For all:

Be sure to tell customer service to take automatic renewal off of your account!!!!!!!!!

They will and you will be terminated when your sub date is up.

My Sirius radio service was active when I bought the car (used) and is still working after 3 years. Hard to beat free!

When I called yesterday for my every 3 months threat to cancel, instead of $18 for 3 months as I've been getting, I got $20 for 5. I"m not going to argue with that.

Call to activate, whatever price. At the end of conversation change your mind, say to much money. Say mo about 3 or 12 times, they will transfer you to customer service. Tell them to much money can't afford it. I got 65 one year flat no other fees or auto activation. Good luck.

Be careful with the lifetime renewal! I renewed my Sirius radio and was told that the lifetime renewal for the VW installed radio was a plan that stayed with the radio and could not be transferred to another radio if I sell the car. I switched that contract to a three year plan. A lifetime contract on the Sirius units can be switched for the $75 fee. /Ken

Wow. I way overpaid for renewal. I had no idea there were any promos, so I am stuck with the 12.95 or whatever ripoff a month. The wife has to have NPR.

They called me again today. They must not like me, cuz they wouldn't offer me the $77 option. My subscription ends on the 12th. I asked to speak to the supervisor and he still wouldn't budge. I even ask if I could pay them $75 for a year subs. they said no :-(. Well I'll see what they say when they call back again on the 12th, if they do.

Question for you that have recieved the $77 deal. Are you getting the full package or just the radio not the talk radio portion?

My hubby reads the same thing over on a Corvette forum. $77 package from customer serivce. Also on Audi forum. I'm not sure if I will renew mine or not, too many trees here in CT, it cuts in and out and same station plays same songs over and over during a week.

1) Call 888-539-7474
2) Connect to cancellation
3) Tell them the regular rate is too much & you are thinking of cancelling

Sorry if this has been posted before. I think I got this off the Audi forum...

Good luck!

I got the lifetime b/c I plan on keeping this car for a long time and I never have to hear form Sirius ever again (which is almost worth the $400). I drive through the mountains of PA on a weekly basis and it's the only way I can listen to the program I want without loosing signal.
