Hi Folks!

Does anyone have any idea where I can get a list of TDI mk3 production numbers? Basicaly I'm trying to find out how many Silver Arrow TDIs were made.

I had a 99 A3 Silver Arrow Jetta.....I suggest contacting VW they could probably answer your question.......A Very rare bird I surmise, it (Silver Arrow)was only offered on the 99 A3 Jetta which was only 1/2 year production.

I had heard through the rumor mill that some of these late 99 A3s got ABS, 4 wheel disk brakes, and side airbags. Is this the case?

On my '99 A3, I could have purchased ABS as a 'dealer installed option' for around $900. (I could look on my notes if anyone wants the exact figure. When I say I have all records for my car, it includes notes from the weekly calls to the dealer to see if she could find me the Windsor Blue/Orlando package/dark interior/sunroof combo I wanted! )

While ABS was on my list, I did not go for the ABS option. I don't know about the disk brakes, but mine doesn't have them and it was on the last ship of A3 TDIs to hit the Northeast port. Side airbags definitely were not an option.

When I got my car, New Beetles were showing up in showrooms, and they had side airbags. I am sure I asked, and I am sure my saleswoman rolled her eyes. Just like she did when I told her I wanted the full-size spare, and intermittent wipers.

I know of a car with abs but it has drums in the rear this was not an ad on the car was built with it.....

That is what they told me... I couldn't imagine a dealer installing ABS, and I am pretty good with the brake pedal all on my own, so I didn't get much beyond the $$$.

My 97 has rear drums and 4 wheel ABS. It works well.

I bought my TDI new in January 1998 as a '98 model. My color is Silver Arrow... are you referring to something else? Was there a Silver Arrow Edition or something that was specific to 1999?

Edit: BTW it has ABS, rear drums, no side airbag, 7-hole wheel covers & sunroof for those of you tracking the options.
