Timing belt dates: Aug 3rd, 4th, & 5th (2007).
UPDATED LIST as of Aug 01. -
Not too sure what to do here. There are some issues:
1) Cloudbase1 has limp mode problems and does not know if he'll make it. He also has not purchased a TB kit. Aaron, have you packed an extra kit or two?
2) If Cloudbase1 does not show, then the current alternate, Rosannah, has not contacted me about whether she will attend (6AM or otherwise). Ibanix, are you willing to show-up at 6AM? If there are no-shows at 6AM, then I will put my car on the ramps and vacate my 6PM slot for anyone who does show-up (whether that be Rosannah or Ibanix, or someone else...).
3)
RC_y2kws6ta (Rob) still has problems that will hopefully be resolved by the time his appointment comes around.

Ibanix removed from Sat. alternate list and added to Sun. alternate as Rosannah has not responded.

Oldpoopie (Justin) will be our guest mechanic.

This work will take place in Sacramento. PM me for address.

You all know the drill. Order your belt kits now (In alphabetical order: BleachedBora, dieselgeek, impex, metalman, tdiparts, etc) and have cash to pay for TB Guru services.

Friday August 3:
1. 9:00AM NewTdi (Andrew)
2. 12:00PM Ruking 03 Jetta (Rick)
3. 3:00PM Sacramento TDI (marvin)
4. 6:00PM Gage - '98 Jetta

Saturday August 4th:
1. 6:00AM dok (David) Possible trade for 2PM slot???
2. 10:00AM moonlite 03 Golf (Charlie)
3. 2:00PM RC_y2kws6ta (Rob) Possible trade for 6AM slot???
4. 6:00PM "Jacky The Dog" 2002 ALH
5. ***ALTERNATE*** OPEN***

Sunday August 5th:
1. 6:00AM Cloudbase1 :D:D:D:eek: Questionable attendance (read above for workaround) Cloudbase1, please call me with a Saturday update.
2. 10:00AM Petrofied 02 Jetta (Bart)
3. 2:00PM 4Gman 00 Jetta (Dave)
4. 6:00PM 02AutoWag (Russ)
5. ***ALTERNATE*** Rosannah via PM OR Ibanix***As oldpoopie stated: "understand that there is no guarantee that I'll have the time, or the stamina, to do the job. If I'm feeling it, I'll do it. They will just have to wait and see".***

There you go. All other previously interested participants have either decided to put off their belt change for the next event (possibly Feburary), or have possible conflicting activities.

For those intending on getting belt changes...Have you ordered your timing belt kits??? BleachedBora seems to be offering up a value packed kit.

Your engine must be clean.
Please power wash/spray wash: do whatever you need to do to ensure that the engine is clean.
Don't let Oldpoopie catch you ridin' dirty.
Be clean: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=125240

I just washed my engine via the instruction in that thread.
Even scrubbed the engine bay where I could reach :D.
But, still have some corners with layers of gunk that wont budge?!

It's clean. Ill just need to hose the bugs off my grill.

If anyone is interested I have a couple of parts I'd like to sell. Stock intercooler and upper/lower pipes, egr cooler, headlights (oem no fog). If anyone going to the GTG is interested I'll bring them along. If not I'll post in the appropiate thread.

Chocolate is always cool...

Meanwhile, the Recaros just arrived, and they are purdy!

Whatever flavor you have in your cupboards is good by me.

How is Justin doing against the timeline?
Do you need me to help transport the seats?

Justin is doing well, and it looks like the seats are going to come over at 6AM tomorrow :).

What time are you leaving? I'll be leaving LA @ 10p:D
Don't know. I'll either sleep and then drive, or drive and then sleep.

Many thanks to Russ for organizing the (Fri location) event! I'd like to thank Martin and his family for their wonderful hospitality! It was a pleasure to finally meet Old Poopie, Gage and Andrew! Congrads to Aaron on his up coming lifestyle changing decision and event!!!

The car felt VERY SMOOTH on the trip home! (nothing fell off to boot! :) ) Filled up this morning for an overall 49.3 mpg !!!

The poopster is awesome, he had to summon up the strength of 10 men to looosen just about every bolt on my car, apparently HE-Man did the last TB change.
My car is running great now that the timing is correct, snow screen removed, IQ modified, and the ugliest airfilter ever has been repalced (Aaron has pictures).

Just got back from my 'Hell Run' (L.A. to Sacramento and back in 19 hrs w/ 2 hrs sleep). What a big difference a good TB job can do for overall performance. Thanks to Justin for a fantastic job on the TB and cam follower replacement. To Aaron for his great deals and fantastic service. And to Russ for hosting and letting me crash on the couch. The new Recaro seats are the most comfortable ride. Only stopped once in 6 hrs and my back feels great! Suggest them to anyone who commutes distance and has back issues. And Aaron again for making sure I have enough oil, filters etc. for a lifetime(alright 5 oil changes).

You guys Rock,
David K.

Do tell Aaron. Us mama-types want to know.;)

Oh, and congratulations! Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.:D
