Hi,

Was wondering if there was a way to unstick them without breaking them.

The power mirrors work on both but they will not fold in.

Thanks.

Trying gently wiggling them back and forth a bit at a time, you might be able to free up the oxidized aluminium - but there is definitely a risk of breakage. You can take the cover off to see how badly the mechanism has rotted.

Shoot some PB Blaster in there daily then tap the base. Clean the excess off the finish.

Great for rust, won't do **** on oxidized aluminium ;)
Huh? What's the difference? PB blaster is a penetrating oil; why wouldn't it work at loosening up seized parts, regardless of the metal it's being used on?

The parts are usually disintegrating more than seized. Penetrating oil tends to turn the aluminium oxide into a paste.

Thanks all. Are you talking about the black cover at the top of the mirror itself?

2 pieces of cast with nubs is what is stuck. The bottom one is fastened thru the door.
Broke mine (99.5) when it was new. Was able to repair without popping off the door card.
Similar to what happens with the wiper motor, cast aluminum gets fused together.
