Forgive me if this has already been covered. I did a search for service manual and couldn't find a source for same for the new Jetta TDI. I see Bentley mentioned, with associated claims of inaccuracies. I see something called VEISS, but am clueless. Neither seems to cover the new model.

Where can I get reasonably accurate manuals for servicing the various systems in my '02 Jetta?

My local dealer has them on his display shelf. Mine is over $100 Cdn. right now so I am going to wait for either used ones to pop up or the price to drop as the car gets older. They have PN's associated with them... if you can't get your dealer parts person to help you I can go get the PN for you and then you could give it to him / her.

If you go through DieselGeek.com, you can get the 2002 Jetta Bentley service manual. It isn't the greatest manual, but I could not find any other for 2002. Also I mentioned DieselGeek as he sells the manual for a lot less then anyone else.

Is the Bentley Service Manual out already for the 2002 New Beetle TDI? Can't seem to find it yet in amazon or elsewhere.

Thanks!

I've search Amazon for about 15 minutes and can only find the 1999 and earlier manual. How did you find it?

Nevermind, the ISBN worked (0-8376-0388-9).

I ordered mine ('02) in the beginning of October from Amazon. With an E-coupon it costed me $49 USD shipped!! But then they sent me an email saying it would be another 4 weeks to ship.

I am kind of bummed - but I will wait

I have tried to order a Bently manual from Amazon now for 3 mo. They keep sending an email saying the item is back ordered. I am tring to get a '01 manual for my Jetta. Amazon just finally cancelled it and im out of luck. I hope the '02 manuals dont have this problem for you guys.

I heard to the CD version is not very good.

Okay, forget the above link. Just go to Amazon and do a search for "Bentley Volkswagen", without the quotation marks. Be sure to use Darren's code "VSAREWARDDSS" when you order, to get the $10 discount.

My biggest concern about purchasing a VW product were the murmurs of customer dissatisfaction I heard on these boards and elsewhere. My fears were, at least partially, confirmed by a conversation I just had with the parts department manager at the dealership where I bought my new Jetta. He told me, not only does he not have the Bentley service manual for my car, it won't be available for three years.

I just checked the Amazon site, using the ISDN number mentioned previously and found the Bentley manual listed as available in 2-3 days.

Who's lying to me? The parts critter or Amazon? Anyone actually receive their manual from Amazon?

Maybe the parts monkey doesn't know how to use the parts computer, I think this is a qualification for the management job.

The "VW Jetta, Golf, GTI '99-'02 service manual" has a VW part number LPV 800 118.

I picked mine up at a VW dealer, so I know it's flowing in the system.

I'm guessing that Boone's problem is that he tried to order the 1999-2001 manual. It has been replaced by the 1999-2002 manual. (I'm guessing that the only change is the cover!) Why Amazon didn't figure this out, I don't know.

The service manual for the 99.5-02 Jetta/Golf is readily available from a number of sources.

IMPEX for example, lists it at $55.25 (+shipping and tax where applicable). Look for VG02.

Other parts suppliers have them available too at comparable prices.

It seems that Amazon IS having troulbe with the 1999-2002 manual. I just recieved an email stating that they are delayed 4-6 wks.
So much for the good price.

Just ordered the CD rom From Jim at dieselgeek and it was 75.00. He said it had more info on it than what the manual has. Also has the (diagnostic)? codes, to help trouble shoot if you are using a scan tool.

FWIW, I ordered mine from Amazon last week using these instructions and it arrived last night. No sweat, they must now be in stock [the new book, '99-02]. It's a heavy sucker...

Thanks for the $10 discount code

Mine just came in today. They must have just got a batch. Only took 2 weeks. In fact, last week Amazon sent me a notification e-mail that it would be delayed a further 2-3 weeks. Go figure.
