Server move coming

Just a quick FYI. In the next week we will be moving the server due to a loss of the "great deal" we have had for the last 5 years. I'm not sure of the date, but will be before the end of the month. The biggest problem will be that this will involve DNS changes to all the servers. Depending upon DNS propagation, it should be available to most in a matter of hours after moving.

More details to come in the next few days and will be posted here and on the status server (http://status.tdiclub.com) which should unaffected by this change.

The tentative schedule is for the server to go down around 2pm PDT on Monday September 29th. We should be coming back up a couple of hours later. However, this server move is to a different co-location company and requires a new range of IP addresses. Because of this you may not be able to get to the website properly by just typing in the address (tdiclub.com). To get around this, the IP address of the main page will be:
65.110.12.165

Please note this IP address will not work until after the server has been physically moved and is just temporary. DNS propagation should take place in the next day or two.

For updates or changes, please check back to this topic or at status.tdiclub.com .

This is an unsolicited reminder.

I would also like to take this chance to remind everyone that Fred runs this site out of his pocket, and the expense of hosting a server with the amount of bandwidth we consume is not insignificant (think at least a few hundred a month).

Looks like I really need to update the thank you page. I must send out a thanks to all who have donated again.

Also a quick reminder about this move. I'll be turning the forums off around 1:30pm PDT in preparation for the move. You will need the above IP addresses to access the forums for the first little bit depending on how quickly your DNS records updated. For those using windows 2000 or Windows XP, go the command line and type in the following:

ipconfig /flushdns

This will helps speed up the new record coming to your computer. You may need to do this a few times depending upon when your DNS updates their records. (The above commands cleans out the cached DNS records on your local machine).
