This is a month by month competition. Every time you make an entry it will be added up and recorded together according to the fuel type and car/year you are driving.
THIS IS NOT an individual tank competition (or a partial tank competition for that matter).

Entries will be accepted until October 5th 2012, but remember, report tanks FILLED IN SEPTEMBER.

Entry Format:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Driver:
Miles:
Gallons:
Model Year:
Model:
Tranny:
Fuel Type:

You are allowed to put more than one fill up in a post, so long as each fill up conforms to format.

MPG: (optional since I will calculate it automatically anyway)
Odometer: (optional)
(anything else you would like to add)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Please put a space after the colon ( ": ")

Please NOTE Units are in US Gallons and Miles
http://bit.ly/bRcWd2
http://bit.ly/aOcO89
http://bit.ly/ai8xWe

TRANNY TYPES:
(x)A = x speed automatic
(x)M = x speed manual *
DSG = direct-shift gearbox
CVT = continuously variable transmission
* if you have swapped in a taller 5th gear please noted this (ie: 5M w/.681)

FUEL TYPES:
Bx = biodiesel - x is the percentage of bio
Biodiesel use will be indicated in GREEN.
ULSD / LSD / D2 = normal petroleum based diesel
Also please note if it's winterized
- please note if you are using a fuel additive (ie: ULSD +PS)
- - Power Service (PS); Stanadyne (ST); Redline (RL)

Posts not in format will not be tallied / corrected. If I have to do any editing to get your post in format (or to get the correct name), it will not be counted. Feel free to correct your own posts to get them in format.

Please do not go back and add additional fill-ups to a post. Multiple fill-ups per post is fine as long as all fill-ups are in format. If the driver name is not the same as your post name - this will be considered "Not in format" and will not be counted. Only exceptions would be "and spouse" etc.

The steady fuel mileage improvement seems to be leveling off. Is this mirroring the seasonal air temperature, which is peaking in July/August (and soon declining)? I posted some more musings (and plots) here.

Cooler weather strikes. Looks like I may have seen the last of my 50 mpg tanks for a while.

I'm second guessing my numbers

You've been doing this for a lot longer than I have - I didn't know about TDI club until you showed up in my back yard at Sunday River.

My fuel economy seems too good to be true - where should I look for errors? I use the odometer for distance, and check it against mileage markers on the interstate. It actually reads low by 2% w/ 185-60R14 tires, and low by 6% with 185-70R14 winter tires. I don't want to confuse issues by using calibrated Ultragauge distance, so I stick with the odometer.

Fuel volume is tough to mess up. I fuel at multiple locations, and they seem pretty consistent. Once calibrated, the Untragauge agrees with the calculated economy.

I pulse and glide very aggressively, all the time. I plan to record a commute (40 miles, 50% paved secondary roads, 45-50mph, and 50% interstate, travelling 55-60 mph), once I invest in VCDS. I'm also looking for a way to graph elevation changes over time, to compare throttle use & coasting against road grade.

Good science means peer review - please poke holes in my dream numbers! My last two tanks were 998 and 1,010 miles!!
