So I bought another Passat for the gf to drive. The guy who I bought it from put in some AliExpress android infotainment system.. that doesn’t shut off… so it drained the battery. I jumped the car and took it to my shop to throw into the lift to see what it needs and well… I can’t get the damn thing to shut off now.

disconnected the battery, expected thst to kill the car… nope. Keeps chugging even when I drive it around

anyone got any idea what to do/pull to get this thing to turn off?

literally just sitting in this thing hoping someone can give me some insight

red steering wheel light pops up after 2nd press or nothing on first press unless held

pull off the top of the fuel filter, that should stop it.

that’s not just gunna piss fuel everywhere?

edit: do not, I repeat, do not do this. Fuel will piss out at you. Ask me how I know. The worst part is, I already knew it would, I was just getting frustrated.

id rather pull the fuse for the fuel pump or something if that’s the case

If you can block off the air intake that would function like the ASV and choke the engine?

I’ll try pulling a hose off to see if I can choke it… couldn’t choke it

from a little reading I may have fried relay 30… not that I know where it is

Got it sorted.

What I did was lift up the backseat and disconnected the power to the primary fuel pump in the tank, and then disconnected the battery. The car shut off

Starving the HPFP isn't a smart thing to do.

Glad you got it to turn off, is the car a keyless start?

Was my only choice, to pull the power in the primary pump in the tank… no fuse diagrams or anything

Ahh, the button might be dirty if you couldn't turn the car off.

Either clean it or replace the button.
I did read that elsewhere too, however, the problem only occurred after I jumpstarted the vehicle, and the vehicle started saying, move selector lever, to position P, when coming to a stop

that being said, I will still try to clean it.. just in case

vcds also says nothing regarding it

When I got my Passat, the button was sticking and had to press a couple times to work. The previous owners spilled soda or some sugary liquid (It was in the button slot as well caked on the button).

I disassembled the button, used high alcohol and cleaned the contact's points and the unit.

Works like a charm first try.

My button isn’t stuck at all

picked the car up, started and shut it down a few times during test drive, picking up a few days later and driving home for 2 hours.

the not shutting off has only become a thing since I jump started the car.

I will try cleaning the contacts and stuff but from my reading it seems I may have fried relay 30? That being said I don’t have a fuse/relay diagram though if someone has one for a 2012, it would be much appreciated.

Got the car back today...My receipt shows the following:

Performed GFF. Found code terminal 30 open circuit static and ECM, PCM relay de-energized performance too early static. Performed check power and ground and check signal to ECM is OK. Performed remove and replace relay terminal 30 power supply and erased all DTC operations. OK.

So I guess a blown relay...Let that be a lesson to the kids out there with KESSY. Don't jump start a completely dead battery (I knew better) and if your car won't shut off, check this relay.
vw said to me sorry we won’t provide them, you have to buy the service manual if you want them. What wonderful customer service

Pull fuse F9 under the hood. It is a 5A next to another 5A. It's the fuel pump fuse.

Says the guy who hooked me up with a fuse diagram. I say F9 to kill the fuel pump. It worked when mine blew. Shut the car off immediately!

Thank you again for the pdfs

Believe it or not, a weak battery can cause the push to start button not to work. I thought it was a crazy answer, but after the new battery no more problems.
