Hi all, I have a 2009 Seat Ibiza 1.4tdi with the BMS engine and the bv39 vnt turbo. It lights the EML when you try to get it up over 50mph and runs out of steam.
Garage diagnostics showed low boost and they say they tested the actuator with a vacuum pump and it didn't move andsaid you can't just change it out without a flow bench to set it all up again, so it's £1200 for a new turbo... On a £2500 car.
I wondered if it was just sticky vanes so set out to try the Mr Muscle fix but I found that I can easily move the actuator arm about 3/4" so I don't think it's that.
What are my choices now? This engine is a pig to work on with the turbo in a tiny space behind the canted over engine but still high up so you can't easily get at it from underneath either.
