SDI - TDI conversion

Hi all,

I have a AKU 1.7 S SDI LUPO that i want to turbo. Ive been researching parts and im almost set on what to get. One thing im a little unsure of is the intake part. Im planning on getting a high flow intake off a tdi. On my sdi intake pipe it has a throttle plate. My question is - Is there a throttle plate on a tdi just before the intake manifold? I should be getting elsa and ekta soon but any help on getting this project right in my head before i go out and spend loads on parts, would be helpful.

Paul thats your anti-shudder valve when you turn engine off it closes air intake so you dont get the bad shudder of the air being compressed as its shutting down. You dont need to run it really if your planning a high flow manifold. Every mk4 tdi/sdi has one. What manifold are you thinking of getting?

Hi anton , so if someone with a tdi gets a high flow intake, do they not theyre anti shudder? only the maf.

I wouldnt bother with the manifold if I was you for now. I would get everything else running right. If you want a manifold I have a tdi one with anti-shudder of my engine cus I have got a higher flow one. Some people take their anti-shudder off...its called a race pipe...diesel geek sell them I think never bothered looking into it as I knew I would get something made up myself or totaly diff manifold with no anti-shudder in first place. That manifold allard sell is just a pd130 passat manifold with a 'race pipe' (no anti shudder valve) They will over price it aswell. I have the passat manifold now.

Same engine as mine. Dont think hes chipped it or had a remap and hes stating 95 hp. Good to see its been done. Gonna try and make contact with this guy. Hope he speaks english.

Would i be able to connect a tdi downpipe to the existing exhaust? I was thinking the flow rate isnt gonna change. so the existing exhuast would be fine apart from fitting to the turbo.
