scanner recommendations

'03 jetta-red,04 jetta,03 jetta wagon,99.5 jetta-all tdi's
looking to get a android tablet scanner that will work on my '13 sportwagen as well as other vehicles . bidirectional don't want to spen anymore than $400???
any help appreciated.

Isn't OBDeleven kinda the go-to for Android? It's more phone-centric, but I'm guessing it'll just scale to fit a tablet if they don't have a bespoke tablet app. (?)

For modern applications and with that kind of budget, you can't really be as vague as

... as well as other vehicles . bidirectional.....
For VW/Audi group you really can't do better than VCDS (especially if you can find an older, used, unlimited cable).
If you really want to cover a variety of makes\models and have coding abilities, etc. you will need to significantly increase your budget.

If you just want a generic code reader, Amazon has loads of them.
