I just wrote off yet another red 1996 B4 TDI in the wet when yet another driver pulled out from a stop sign to my right.
This is getting to be a post-fest habit.
This time the wagon was a double bagger. I thought the smoke was the gas and powder in the air bags, but it turned out to be the death throes of the spiral cell battery as it shorted when the positive cable was cut in the impact. I drained my extinguisher to prevent the whole car from going up in flames, but it took more than a few shots of dry-chem over several minutes before the current was dissipated.
Both the driver of the other car and her boyfriend are fine. I have a few abrasions on my inner arms from the bag. I checked out OK when the paramedics arrived. I may be stiff tomorrow as it's just an hour since the loss.
Time to start searching again...
