I just wrote off yet another red 1996 B4 TDI in the wet when yet another driver pulled out from a stop sign to my right.
This is getting to be a post-fest habit.
This time the wagon was a double bagger. I thought the smoke was the gas and powder in the air bags, but it turned out to be the death throes of the spiral cell battery as it shorted when the positive cable was cut in the impact. I drained my extinguisher to prevent the whole car from going up in flames, but it took more than a few shots of dry-chem over several minutes before the current was dissipated.
Both the driver of the other car and her boyfriend are fine. I have a few abrasions on my inner arms from the bag. I checked out OK when the paramedics arrived. I may be stiff tomorrow as it's just an hour since the loss.
Time to start searching again...

I am sorry about the accident. :( The good thing is that nobody was seriously injured. Good luck in your search for another vehicle.

Jeez, Jon. And Corey and I were just today talking about how nice your car looked at the Fest. Glad you're OK.

I know where there might be a nice Red A4 Jetta available.

Yes, definitely very glad you are fine!

That was a perfect wagon! Although, now I guess Jetter_Sprinter could feel a little better about that curb! :)

Sorry to hear about it. You should see someone if the bags went off. I just know too many people who thought they were fine, put off doing anything about it and then had a lot of pain and PT later.

So what are you looking for? Spec it out and we'll keep our eyes open.

DAMN! Another one bites the dust

JB, this is terrible news. Glad to hear you're OK. Make certain you tell their insurance company you're in a lot of pain/discomfort. ;)

I'm so sorry to hear about your accident, that totally stinks. I was only paired with my last TDI for 5 days before having some maniac rear end me on 495, totalled for sure; fortunately I wasn't hurt. I think the Massachusetts TDI's live a much harder life than others, bad drivers, bad weather, etc. We just have to love them that much more when we have them!

I'll echo Jetter--let me know if you need a car until you find another: I've got a nice A3 that mostly sits.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO not the Cherry B4w!!!

Oh man! I'm glad youre ok, but your car! I want to find the person who hit it and..........admonish them to be more careful in the future:mad:! Is is really done for? No hope to fix? What a drag! We need to find you another super clean B4 stat! Man that was such a nice car its maddening!

And yes, let the insurance bandits have it on this one. That car was worth a mint and I can prove it. Also, lets face it.......your in so much mental and physical anguish, that you'll need several dollars to overcome your loss.......and perhaps find a suitable replacement.

Let me know if I can do anbything for you.

Sorry, Chris

Did Scott mention that he has a t-red B4 GLX that might be willing to give its life for a B4Wagon? Know anyone who can weld?

Lug_Nut, this is terrible news. Glad you are okay.

I hear that SVTWEB is looking to start a new A5 project, and his wagon may be for sale.

Firstly and most importantly, glad to hear that you are not hurt.
Secondly, man, what a pitty about a prime mint beauty.
Lastly, thankfully you were in a V Dub and not some chinzy 2 star crash rated econocrap, X 2 now.
