Rob,

Comparing your stock 5 speed (EGR) to a 6 speed (DRW), the first five gears are almost identical (a little taller on the DRW). 6th gear would basically be overdrive.

For example:
2000 RPM in 5th gear EGR is 58 MPH
2000 RPM in 5th gear DRW is 58.6 MPH
2000 RPM in 6th gear DRW is 70.5 MPH

Remember that the 6 speed transmissions have two final drives. One for gears 1-4 and one for gears 5-6.

I doubt it will be worth the cost to get custom gearing.

Thank Ryan, Sounds good to me. Missed the calculations on the final drive. Will plan to mod when the tax check comes:D

No problem, the .658 gear is a 5th not 6th though to avoid confusion. People use it on the 02Js.

Thanks

BUMP ^^

I just received the wheels, THANKS to Ryan, super quick response, and super quick delivery!!! Thumps up!

Great stuff, glad you are happy!

My manifold is warping even more. Need a turbo to fit before I can think about taking it off for repair. ;) [cough cough]
We are testing the turbo on Tom's car ASAP and then I'll get one sorted for you if all goes well!! Ideally you need a full kit (cough, cough) haha

I am still hoping to rescue my manifold. Having to shell out for another one is not in my budget. :D I do need the downpipe though. People keep coming in my car commenting on smell of fumes, but I must be used to it as I simply don't notice.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Things have been pretty crazy around here, but not much has got done. We have had the 4th batch of kits go out and have managed to have one 1.9 Kit in stock now.
The 1.9 Kits have been redesigned to use the same manifold regardless of what vehicle it will be fitted to. The only difference would be the downpipe between the Mk4 Golf Platform Kit, Mk5 Golf Platform Kit and Polo/Fabia/Ibiza Kit. The Mk2 and Mk3 Golf Kit would require a different downpipe but we haven't got round to making one of those yet!

Some Turbo/Manifold Porn for you:

Golf Mk4 Platform Kit

Polo/Fabia/Ibiza Kit

BKD Kit

We have the GTB2263VK and GTB2563VK Hybrids here ready for testing, just got to try and squeeze everything in!

More updates to come...

I wasn't going to advertise but after the great level of customer service I received from Ryan some recognition is due.

I purchased one of Ryan's first kits back in the summer. I was a little bit hesitant with the whole payment method at first. The fact that I was shelling out a decent amount of coin without actually meeting the person and that he was across the pond didn’t help. Ryan’s quick reply’s and constant communication definitely helped alleviate any doubt that I was going to be ripped off.

As for the product itself, I brought it to my mechanic who is also quite big in the gasser custom fabrication and performance world; he was blown away at the quality of work I handed him. He said nothing was half as$ed or rushed.

When it came to the install, there was a bit of jigging about to do on how to get the turbo to mount, clocking of the turbo and then how we’d get access to do up all the fasteners. Biggest issue was getting the turbo clocking to clear the drive axles. No matter how we positioned it, the outlet was always really close to the axle – well a bit of custom work later the issue was solved and the turbo went in with plenty of room to spare. Basically we ended up cutting the end of the compressor and then changed the angle the air exits slightly and now I can go as low as I want and never have to worry about hitting the axle. Later it was found out that the 034 Motor Sport 50 Duro mounts I had installed in the car at the time were completely worn out and the motor was not only leaning too far back but had sagged down almost 2 inches. After we replaced them with BFI Stage 1 (65 duro) mounts we noticed TONNS of room between the turbo housing outlet and axle and the custom work was not really needed. The only other issue we encountered was the tapped hole on the turbo wasn’t good enough for us to put in an EGT probe. The angle at which it came out was too close to the exhaust runner and as such we had to drill and tap our own hole in the exhaust manifold. Shouldn’t be a problem in the new kit as I’ve noticed that the newer ones have a tapped hole right where we put ours. Other than that everything else went in like butter.

I got Malone tuning to write software for my setup and after about 8 revisions we finally got something that I was happy with. I can’t thank Mark enough at his level of service and dedication to what he does. That man doesn’t stop until you’re happy, and even when you think you are happy, he’s come back a few weeks later and said “here try this tune, I’ve tweaked it a little and I think it’ll work even better.” Can’t argue with that at all! At a recent dyno day before we had finalized the tuning I put down 235hp and 425 peak tq on a 4th gear pull. I did two runs and both seemed to be pretty much the same. Apart from the level of smoke I'm pretty happy with the results! The car drives and behaves like a stock car for regular commuting and then when you get bored with that, the car hauls when you put your foot into it. Compared to the 17/22 I used to have, it’s a night and day difference. My last dyno with the 17/22 was 198hp and 380tq, it came on strong but the power fell off fast and didn’t have much top end. This 2260VK spools a little slower than the 17/22 but it doesn’t let off until it hits the limiter (still stock). First and second gear at full throttle are basically useless – there is too much torque to keep the wheels down but 3rd 4th and 5th gears keep you pinned to your seat.

Overall I'm very happy at this kit, I wish this was available back when I first started modding the car, I would have jumped on it back then and never looked back! I look forward to upgrading my injector nozzles as I'm told I'm maxed out with what they can do right now. Hopefully they will get rid of the smoke and wake up the turbo a little more!

My setup as it sits now :
Stock PD130 ASZ motor with a Stage 2 Colt Cam
Ryan P’s GTB2260VK turbo kit
3” turbo back exhaust
Custom 2.5” FMIC
30PSI Boost on a 4Bar MAP sensor

I had a few pictures of the install process on my phone but I must of unloaded them onto my desktop – if I remember I’ll post those pictures another time.

TL;DR – Ryan P’s turbo kit is a quality product that not only looks good but performs as well!

I've met Ryan! He's OK. :D

Brief encounter at a UK car show. Never know, it might happen again as I'm going to the same show this year as well.

Curious if the 25 series turbo is same mounting as 22 series - i.e manifold, downpipe etc. If it was found to be a better turbo for my engine setup I would consider trying it - but not if it involves me having to re-do all the mounts, pipework etc.

Bhupesh - Thanks for the kind words! I am really glad you like the kit. I really don't know why so many people are sat on the fence about the GTB2260VK, it has proven itself so many times now!
I would like your car on our website, could you email me some pictures and the spec in the following format:

Some nice numbers you have there. Crying out for some Race PD Injectors now! haha

GTB2265VK:

The GTB2263Vk uses the same Billet compressor wheel as the GTB2563VK.

Jason - I think the GTB2263VK would be plenty for you :)

Yeah, I would expect so, but I am aware of another tuner using a GT25, but my head tells me a 22 would spool up better low down? :) You know me and my ill-founded logic that bigger numbers = better....

The standard GT25 you are talking about is not the best turbo for a performance build IMO, it has the older vane setup that clogs easily and does not flow well plus it has an old tech 56mm compressor wheel that will limit power.

The GTB2260 is actually better for power than the numbers suggest, hence why it was overlooked by some for a few years.

Hi,

I have some GT1749VA and VB Turbochargers available with integral manifold. I also have some AFN Manifolds, but you don't need them to fit those turbochargers to a Golf/Jetta.

Thanks!

Ah right its going in a MK3. I've designed a new rear engine mount that clears all popular turbo upgrades. I should have had them back quite a while ago but the fabricator has been doing other things for me first.

Cheers

Ryan long time, I am back and would like suggestions on turbo, nozzles, and air intake (already puchased PD 150 intake) for more power and economy on a PD100 BEW engine without having to change engine internals. I have a FMIC, PD150 Intake, and will be doing exhaust mod one I decide on system. Need your advice and prices.

Thank You

Its 2.5" so works perfectly with a 2.5" DP or a 2.5-3" cone.

Who is your friend?
