You mean dribble at, right? Looks real nice and something I think I shall be contemplating seriously later in the year, perhaps after more finalising of the product, etc, and after this year's show season, etc. Something inside tells me to get the hybrid on before I start thinking about 1/4 mile sessions, etc.... :D

Probably be easier and quicker for you to get one off Ryan,
Than it will be to set yours up properly :p

NEwbie question: Swap parts for the B5.5 Passat 2.0 tdi?

Hello,

Do you sell kits to convert the problematic 5 speed Tiptronic Automatic transmission on the B5.5 Passat Tdi to a manual transmission?

Thanks,

Alan

I would love to see some pics of the downpipe as well.
We will have the pics next week, I've made a few changes to the manifold design, all for the better, these will be confirmed and shown late next week!

Actuators will be set up as well as they can be, depending on setup some people might want to tweek with them a little!

Thanks for the comments!

Hi Alan,

It's something i've been asked to do a few times but no-one wants to spend the ££, you are looking at around £2k for a 6 speed swap, 5 speed a little less. you would need to source some parts yourself like pedal etc.

Thanks

Ryan

Yeah, forgot to add I would want a perfect actuator setup with it. :D I am still not 100% sure mine is alright now, but car goes well enough for me, so not going to fiddle with it again.

You hit the big 300 yet mate?
Nope - not been on a dyno for three months. Will be getting mapping adjusted a bit more soon I hope. There could be something fundamental stopping me touching that barrier, at least not without the nitrous.

Ryan where do you think this hybrid would max out on a 3.0 tdi v6.
And could there be complications in a 3.0 you wouldn't get in the smaler 1.9?
What would the price be for just sending in and get the turbo hybrided?

Thanks!!!

mmm, I'm not 100% sure, i know as standard it's good for past 300hp on the V6, i'd expect over 350hp but this is all guesswork as we have no available compressor maps for either turbo!

If your turbo is in good condition i'd estimate at £600+ VAT and Shipping. PM me if you want to proceed although i'd like to see how the testing goes on the 1.9/2.0 firstly.

thanks!

Hi Mate,

Yes I've got a couple of sets, he needs to check his part number though. The PD130 Passat (Engine Code AWX, AVF) had some different Injector Part Numbers, some have 038130073AL/079BX later ones have 038130073BA/079FX.

PD150s are 038130073AL/079BX so they must be the same. Some people have experienced running issues with them if the part numbers differ.
BTW - They wouldn't be an upgrade anyway.

Let me know

I would still clean the intakes myself but i was doing so many my neighbours complained about the mess on the street from the Jet Spray!!

It's not a long job for one but 10+ take a long time! lol

I'm still looking for a shop to do them at a reasonable price!

Let me know how fitting goes!

Thanks

Ry
5 months have passed and all of it is still in a box waiting an opportunity to get installed!

FYI I ordered from Ryan on 2/15... He told me It would be a bit of a wait while he rounded up my parts. I assured him I was in ZERO rush. I got a PM on 2/24 at 3:25am with a tracking number, which surprised me. I assumed I'd be waiting longer. I was even more surprised when the DHL guy showed up with my package at 1:01pm today 2/25 ....

Wow.... Talk about under promising and over delivering!

Way to go Ryan!

Ryan,

I have a 2004 PD100 Jetta Sedan and bought a PD150 intake which is on the car, a Forge FMIC, Race Pipe, CAI, and want to match a good turbo with some upgraded injectors and or nozzles. The car has 105K on it and whatever I do to the injectors/nozzles I do not want to have to do anything again for 200K. Looking for the 200HP mark with power when I need it but still have good MPG. Have seen your turbo kits you are working on and would like to know what you reccommend what turbo with what injectors or have the 100's nozzles changed out?

Thanks
I'd go with a PD150 turbo and PD150 injectors unless you plan to upgrade in the future. If that's the case i'd go for R783's (I can supply them calibrated) and one of my turbo kits with a GTB1756VK and a mild tune.

Let me know what you think!

Justin, Thanks! I dont like to keep parts hanging around at all, you were a day late with your order as the ECU sold the previous day otherwise you would have had the parts on the 16th!!!

Hope to do business soon!

I think you are one of many, me included! I never get around to installing anything! lol

Thanks guys!

The R783's and the turbo kit sounds good, why did you choose the GTB1756VK over the other kits? Want to do it once and be done with it. You had said that you are going to provide custom manifolds correct? Please PM with prices and details of what I could expect with each kit HP/TQ approx. Would I get a discount if I sent you the original injectors back?
I chose the GTB1756VK as you said you aim was ~200Hp with good MPG, the 1756VK would be perfect for that.

Here is a quick comparison of the turbochargers I knocked up (if anyone disagrees with any of the figures quoted, please feel free to correct me, they are based on my observations)

For the GTB Turbo Kits, I will be providing with a Tubular Stainless Manifold, 3" Stainless Downpipe, Both New Oil Lines and all genuine VW Gaskets, nuts bolts etc. It is a complete bolt on kit! I will PM you with prices. The first 10 kits are on an introductory price.

In terms of the Injectors, I do usually require a core back, but with you being across the pond, it might be more cost friendly if you sold your PD150s over your way, and I will find some cores over here. By the time you have shipped them to me they could owe you a small fortune!

Thanks!

Just to let you all know, I haven't forgotten about these turbo kits, there is light at the end of the tunnel, and I hope there will be some juicy photos for everyone very soon!
In the meantime, I have been getting asked what sort of power to expect from the different GTB Turbos, so here is a quick table I knocked up:

The 'Boost' Column is what I would consider the max safe boost to run through the turbo.
'Full Boost @' is an estimate of when the Turbo would be producing full boost. What needs to be remembered about the GTB range of turbos is, that as they have the 3rd Generation VNT system, they actually start to produce boost much lower down and can maintain it higher up too with reasonable EMPs.
The 'Max Power' Column is what seems to be the maximum safe power that can be achieved from the turbo. I know people have achieved slightly more, but I am aiming for reliable and usable power, EMP's and EGT's on any of the '17' frame hybrids will be WAY above what even the smallest GTB1756VK will allow at any given power level.
The GTB2265Vk Hybrid has yet to be fully tested, so those figures are currently an educated guess. We will be doing back to back testing on all the turbochargers as soon as possible!

If anyone disagrees with the information, please let me know and I will correct it.

There has also been a lot of questions about the size of the wheels in the GTBs compared to the other popular TDI VNT Turbochargers, so I have compiled a bit of information:

Again, if anyone disagrees with the info, please let me know. It was very difficult finding some of the wheel sizes so I hope they are correct!

Spaces are filling up fast for the first 10 GTB Turbo Kits!

Thanks

Ryan

Hey Ryan, I know it's a bit off topic, but you don't have any sort of data like that for the non-boreless vnt turbos do you?

I know there's a big sticky up at the top, but it doesn't say how much power we can get with these things :)

Could you add the vnt15 to the above chart? I know nobody really cares about that turbo but it would be a good reference point. Specially for those poor guys that are still stock that have not experienced an upgraded turbo.:(

Thanks

ps excellent thread drool is pooling on my keyboard.

Thanks for the input, You have a point! I'll get around to it when i have a few minutes spare, it might be when i upload the pics of the manifold and downpipe next week :D

The VNT-15 (or GT1749V to call it by it's true name for the purists!) will max out around 155hp but with the right mods, My ALH/VNT-15 combo flies for a parts delivery van!

I dont think you would be dissapointed with an upgrade, the drooling would turn into smiling! lol

RyanP are you sure? on the garret site they say the GT1749V is the performance turbo and the same as a 1749VB? maybe im wrong, always confused with the ever changing numbers of Garrett.
