I, too, have a rusting issue with my Jetta. I lived in Brownsville, TX for a year where it is extremely humid right next to the Gulf. Ate right through the driver side fender and started on the passenger side. The driver's side is now a hole about 5"x2". The passenger's side has not perforated the panel yet.
I guess through my own failure, I didn't check on TDIclub for about a year. I didn't know about the corrosion warranty (expires Oct. 10, 2012) until about 3 months ago when a friend informed me of it.
I took it to a local dealer here in Denver (Emich). They had never seen anything like it before (since it is so dry here). I explained the history, the service manager took photos and sent them on to the district claim rep for approval. It came back denied on both fenders. The reason I was given was I didn't report it early enough so that the rust could be repaired before it ate through. Based on what I have seen here, claims were denied because it hadn't gone through yet. This seems like quite the contradiction. When I asked to contact the person who made the decision, I was told that isn't possible and I would have to call customer care.
I called customer care to protest and plead my case about the foam, the TSB, etc. I was told they could not help me and all I could do was write a letter to VWoA to no one in particular and they would maybe respond. I have no hope for that to happen.
My question then, has anyone had a similar experience? Should I try pursuing this again through a different dealer? I know that it is already noted on my vehicle history and I assume the claim would go to the same claim rep. Does anyone have any advise or guidance?
Thanks all,
Andrew
