Hello Ruffles! I don't think I've ever seen a sundown orange New Beetle on the road around my neck of the woods before.

You might want to start a "college" fund for Ruffles - first, it'll be RC-1; then,
something else; and so forth. In my opinion, TDI's are like professional students -
they never finish (doing upgrades).

Welcome aboard, fellow Hoosier.

Your first assignment: FIND a Trusted TDI mechanic - you'll be glad you did (later).

A good body person should be able to make that door like new in a relative short time. If you are going to just swap out the door instead of having it fixed, remove the interior panel and you should be able to pop the dent out for the most part. Run the window up and down and make sure the regulator is not hitting anything and that it goes all the way up and down smoothly. That will get you back into full window operation until you get the door replaced.

If you are going to have the door repaired, find out if the shop is going to reskin it or just remove the dent. If they remove the dent, make sure they don't just beat it out enough that the window works and then fill the dent with a filler. It will defienately cost a little more in shop time to have it done so that minimal filler is used, but it will be much happier in the long run with the repair.

Poor ruffles has ridges. Was the dent a separate incident from the fender bender in the parking lot? When you posted that there were more boo boos, it sounded like it. Depending what the additional damage is, I'd consider taking it to a reputable body shop and doing it all at once. Was the other driver(s) responsible for any of these, so his/her insurance would be responsible? If not, it might be worth just paying the deductible and having it as good as new.

Fender damages were a different accident. But I'm gonna get all the work done at one time. The damages to the door will probably be covered by insurance. Just waiting on insurance to decide what they'll do.
