Ross-Tech Cable + ECU Flash?

Hi Guys

Anyone out there know if I'm able to read and write the ECU software with my Ross-Tech HEX+CAN cable?

Found a site called NEFMoto, they have developed a program for the ME7 ECU (1,8T) You will need another driver for the cable.

But how about the EDC 15/16?? is the a no go?

Found some that have done it with a VAG-Tech cable? is there a different from VAG-Tech and Ross-Tech cables?

If it Works, is this better than a MPPS Clone cable?

And sould I have posted it in ODB Scanners section?

Hope you guys have some inputs :)

Regards Jesper

i would recommend u get either a galletto cable or a mapps to flash your tdi
cheap eBay clones can be had for less then 20$ shipped and have worked for me with no issues
vagedcsuite to edit or winols
I'm sure there is others on here with more experience then me

I've heard the galletto is no go and with the mpps clones the ecu tend to brick

So if I could just use the Ross tech cable and it is safer it would be win win :)

Will be using Winols :)

I've flashed my bew 3 times with mpps no issue
and flashed my 03 alh countless times with galletto and never an issue
but best to be safe if your worried about it
apparently one of them has boot recovery mode to unbrick

That's what happens with bootleg WinOLS and damos files which aren't matched up for your software version.

Not sure why no one has answered this directly, but the answer is NO, you cannot flash a tune file with VCDS (Vag Com). That is not what that cable and software do.

If you want to tune yourself on the cheap, plenty of good advise already given in terms of cables and software,

I know that :) but is it possible with another software and cabel driver? Or is it only with the Vag-tech cable?
I believe the chip has to be removed from the ECU and put into a
specialized holder to be flashed.
Mine flashes fine via obd :) but you are right some Ecu's will need to get the socket replaced :)

oh just out me to the crowd why don't you
next you'll be telling everyone about how good I am with my mouth :p

but yeah, mpps cable, 038 ALH about a hundred reflashes deep
yank the #11 fuse and use the "medium" speed

I tried the "fast" speed once, but it screwed something up halfway through rewriting, and I had to use the "slow" speed to get it to work again.

oh ok
what can i do to fix this so I can make my adjustments and what not??
which car, the 04? Grab you "vagedcsuite"

you can do most everything map-related in that, then for more complex stuff like disabling fault codes you use winols

This might be a stupid question but is a map pack a list of maps within an ECU file? and do use this map pack with your original file and software like Winols?

oh it's a PD
it'll be a bit different, their control is a lot different than the VP pump's

This is where you need to start using some brain power to identify whats changed in your friends car....

Find the original file.

Use winols to do a compare and identify the changed maps.

Use your map pack file to use as a reference to work out what the above changed maps are...

change the amount of columns
or shift them over to the side

wow old thread
I think I've got the 13? either way, fresher version is probably better
it'll have an "identify ecu' function when you plug it all in
an alh will be EDC15, no idea on the others as I've shunned them until they're more in my price range of 'dang near free'

You will not find tuned ECU or DSG files here. There are no free (public domain) tuned files available and there will be no illegal copyrighted files (or links to them) posted here. It would be illegal and it would violate forum rules.
Also I would be very leery of using cheap Chinese tuning software - they often come complete with malware. Good Luck.

Your only safe option is to find a competent tuner near you and pay for what you want. Free tunes often turn out to be very expensive. Buy from a source you can trust.

Have Fun!

Don
