OK, post here if you want to participate this go round, and also your prefered date and a second choice. The GTG will occur in late Oct/early Nov.
Jeff is sending all his tuning gear to use use in person, and I will install nozzles for the VE cars (not PD) the same day.
We will need to set a schedule, each car will have a "time slot" so everything can be somewhat orderly. These slots should fill up fast.
Post it here.

I'm in. I'm flexible on the date, over a weekend would be prefered. I have a stock '03 Golf, would like RC stage 2 and .205 Sprint 520s.

I'm in... Rocketchip (II or III??)
I might have a friend in SLC that intersted in both chip and nozzles.
November would be better for me, weekend sometime.

I'm in!
Sign me up for RC2 and Sprint 520s. (2002 Jetta, "something-FD" ECU, 5-speed)

Weekend is also a requirement for me, as well. October 22-23 and November 5-6 would work best for me, but other weekends are do-able given a couple weeks notice.

Thanks again, Charlie, for turning my wacky musings into reality.

HA! 12 hours for me. I'd like to get RC'd, but getting time off will be hard without a set date.

I am 50/50 since it is so far away. Best weekends for me would be in November except 12/13. If I can get an early slot on a Saturday, that would help me out.

Also interested in the RC2 and sprint520's. Weekend of Oct 22nd or Nov 5th is good. Will the VAG-COM equip. be available for doing an alignment afterwards? Any ideas on package cost for chip+nozzles+alignment?

Any chance anyone would be interested in helping out with a timing job?

My buddy wants to get his 2001 Golf chipped but is WAY over due on the timing job.

He is probably interested in injectors as well, but he does not want to do anything until this gets done.

I'm in for 2 cars most likely RC2/3 on both.
Any of the dates above work for me. I have a VAG COM/Laptop and will be bringing it along. I will most likely be at the G2G most of the day so feel free to borrow it.

YES, PLEASE PICK A DATE, I need to know so I can get the time off.
Please indicate which dates would be the easiest to get off, and maybe Kerma/Jeff could pick a date.

Pretty much any weekend in November. I can get any weekend off, as long as I know now.

I would rather not do it the same weekend that Thanksgiving is on(before).

Re: Rocketchip/KERMATDI in Utah, Official signup l

I'm willing to make the 650 mile drive from West Sacramento, CA, but need to know soon which weekend this will happen (late Oct is better than Nov). I'd most likely be driving all day Saturday, so work would need to take place on a cold engine Sunday morning. My friend will be accompanying me who has a stock WRX and is skeptical of diesels.

I'd like to modify to a point just shy of needing to spend more money/time on gauges. I can however order a Dawes device, if needed...

02 Jetta Wagon
Automatic
45,000 miles
stock engine
17" wheels w/ oversized 215/55-17 tires:
RC2 (installation desired)
Sprint 357 or 520 (installation desired)

98 New Beetle
5-speed
145,000 miles
stock engine
original LUK clutch:
Sprint 520 (self install)

Thanks,
Russ

Re: Rocketchip/KERMATDI in Utah, Official signup l

I assume we need to bring some sort of MBC? Dawes/boostvalve etc? I might contact them about a GB. WE can have them shipped to my buddies place in SLC, maybe we can get 10-20% knocked off.???

I'd definitely be interested in adding some kind of boost valve at the same time.

LA to Salt Lake is 800 miles one way... Got a B4 so my chip is plug and play of a GQ ECU, and I already have my nozzles.

Installing your own nozzles is a piece of cake... and the ECU automatically measures and balances them on TDI's in group 13 on VAG COM , so I consider spending money to get nozzles popped a waste.

This originated as a Chipping GTG, let's not hijack it for some nozzles, which anybody that can push on an open end wrench and has access to a vice can do in an hour. Chipping requires Jeffs touch programming and hand tweaking each car's chip individually on the computer to fine tune and optimize. That was the whole purpose of the chipping in person... Jeff's personal tuning touch.

Still no chipping price mentioned... what is up with that?# Am I to assume that for non PD's it's a group buy at $150 a chip, since the overnight shipping charge of $30 is waived?

Get back to us when you do a chip fest in CA... Diesel is $3.50 a gallon here and rising fast with 2 hurricanes.

All these people are in or from California and you want all of us to drive to Salt Lake?
I can see where the money is for Jeff, but to reiteratre: Lets not hijack this thread from a West Coast GTG to a South West GTG to sell some nozzles, when it was to be a West Coast chipping GTG...

Re: Rocketchip/KERMATDI in Utah, Official signup l

There are quite a few locals wanting chipping, so I figured let's do them all in one fell swoop. The GTG is more for them. Folks don't like to have their ride down for a couple of days, and the tuning is better done in person. Unlike some "other chips" that are one size fits all, there's actual tuning going on with Jeff's stuff, not solder in a "chip" and off you go.

Most of these folks were going to get nozzles anyway, or already have them. I usually install them for free for locals if they ask, just for the social aspect.

Cheer up. You don't have to drive out here if you don't want to. Based on our talk earlier today, I think now he's considering a SoCal leg to this trip also. And the overnight shipping is always an option.

Price will be the normal price, AFAIK. Flying isn't cheap. If you want cheap, eBay is always an option, if you feel lucky.

It's looking like the 2nd weekend in November for SLC, if we both get the thumbs-up from our respective "boss".

If time allows an additional flight, I propose Northern California purchase a plane ticket for Jeff rather than drive individual cars down to Southern CA (time and financial benefits for us). Flying from Southern CA to Northern CA is cheap via Southwest Airlines (into Oakland or Sacramento airports).

Anyone have comments?
