Rob's White TDI

Re: Rob\'s White TDI

You need to rig it up so you can steer the car and work the pedals whilst sitting on the bicycle, a la Mr. Bean. You'd have great visibility in all directions that way!

Y'all should stop posting pictures of your A4 Golfs. Now I'm lusting after them. I like them better than the Jettas, actually. Perhaps I'll get one for my wife.

That is one sweet car! That's the exact car I'm planning to get. Schweet.

If you do much highway driving, you might consider a bra for the front too. My white Jetta is full of bugs after 1 trip to work (45 miles).

Nice GOLF IV TDI. Gotta love 'em 'cause their so nice and so rare too. Especially like that turbo diesel sign on the rear end. I feel the same as Mickey, wish there was some way I could justify getting one of these A4 Golf's!

Re: Rob\'s White TDI

Robber-

How are the decals set up on your car? Between the glass and the film; out side the glass . . .

I have a nice big, hard to find, KLEIN window decal that I want to put on my window but I am planning to have the windows tinted soon and was curious how you had yours. . .

Still tryin to figure out which way I am goign to put the roof rack on the car. UHAUL wants $303.00 USD to put a receiver hitch on the '99 GOLF IV GL. adn getting the THULE stuff isn't much less money. . .

Re: Rob\'s White TDI

GeWilli,

The TURBO DIESEL lettering and the Oakley stickers are mounted outside the windows. They take about 48 hours to cure. I have never had any problem with them coming off on past cars. However, be carefull using high pressure car wash nozzles and before you mount them be sure you DO NOT have RAIN X on the windows.

Mickey,

I don't think so.

WWJD

He would drive a TURBO DIESEL.

Robber,

You should paint your rear lights (the yellow parts) red w/ a red clear coat paint from a local hobby shop.

What % is your tint job? And how much did you pay for it?

Re: Rob\'s White TDI

WWJD,

I don't think so on the painting. Next are the wheels. One of these days I'll go to 16's, maybe after these tires wear out.
The tint is the legal limit for Arkansas and it was about $225 for all the windows.

Re: Rob\'s White TDI

SkyPup: I have already rationalized my purchase(in about two years) of an automatic dark blue Golf. You see, even though I'm single and not dating, I have to get the Golf as a second car IN CASE I meet someone in the near future who cannot shift. With my fanatical maintenance habits, the Golf's engine will still be running 18-20 years from now- it will be a good, safe car for the "future kids" to learn on! If I'm no longer the "fuel economy king," I think my claim as ultimate rationalizer is unassailable!

$225?! Wow. I know I don't live in Arkansas, but I only paid $130 for top of the line 3M lifetime warranty tint job. I'm over here in Maryland.

Hey Robber,

Many everyone is talking about you car.

One more question:

Did you modify the rear wiper so it won't hit the TURBO DIESEL lettering? I was looking at my window and there isn't any room on the out side to get my stiker in the rear window on the outside. . . My wiper blade goes clear to the top.

Re: Rob\'s White TDI

GeWilli,

I did modify the rear wiper so that it would not wipe over the lettering. I went to the local Wal-Mart and got a generic replacement wiper and cut off half of the upper rocker arm on the wiper. It worked out really well.

Robber,

Who makes the bra on your hood? Did you get the full bra, or did you only put the hood piece on?

Nice car! I'm waiting for a white Golf GLS TDI to show up at my local dealer..

I got the bra from VW and I only have the Top piece on the car. It comes as a full frontal coverage bra.

BRUSSELS BELGIAN:

You're going to buy an automatic just in case you meet someone who can't shift?

That's crazy! An ideal woman will already know how to drive a stickshift car! If she's otherwise ideal, but can't, then you can teach her! What better way to foster a long-lasting relationship?

PS- Isn't it true that 5-speed cars are virtually un-stealable, since most car thieves are shiftless?

Now there's a test...teaching someone who doesn't drive stick to drive stick!

At a family reunion in Star Valley, Wyoming recently I taught two 16 year-olds to drive the Evil Beetle. I must be pretty mellow, because they were a lot more nervous than I was. My sister-in-law was too tentative and kept killing the motor but her cousin just revved the sucker up and dropped the clutch, like she was Shirley Muldowney or something. It was actually a lot of fun.
