I am not going to mention my source, he can speak up if he wants, but THANK YOU! I will have download links available starting tomorrow. I will only release it to 10 people max a day between here and Vortex, download it the day you get the link please. I am testing the ISO right now to verify it is good to go. I will update the original post in the thread with the new info.
PM sent. Thank you!

Great !! I'll be looking for it. I have read that V7 will have updated maps through 2013Q1. I'm assuming it will have the same type faster access as the V5.2 is delivering, correct?
Yes, it is 2013Q1 data like I posted before. I have not broken down the index to compare, but I would assume it is the same format as 5.2.

V7 links have now gone out to 7 people today, between here and Vortex.

You all got the same canned, copy/pasted message that is now my new standard message, makes it far easier than typing it out everytime somebody asks for it.

Let the flood of requests begin!

Strike one on loading V7. Burned on PC using Memorex DVD+R DL, same way as CD burn of CD for FW. DVD seemed to burn ok, but RNS510 did not do anything after loading the DVD. Loaded DVD while car running in garage. Trying to burn another DVD. Any other ideas?

Try a different brand of DVD, it took me several attempts to install the previous map update.

OK, I guess I'll have to do that. I tried a second DVD and it at least got noticed this time. But then I got a message "CD/DVD Error". I know that my RNS510 does read DVDs ok as the V5.2 loaded. It's kind of a bummer having to buy more DVDs. I don't really use them and all I could find was 5 packs at $15. And now I get to try to find another brand and drop another $15 unless someone can tell me where it find singles, or 2-3 packs.

I had ZERO issues, burned using MAX speed on ImgBurn using a Verbatim DVD+R DL on my Dell XPS8100. Took a while for it to give me the Install prompt, left it alone over night car off and locked after it started the install, used Nav on the HDD this AM, after ejecting the disc, for our trip to church and everywhere after just to test...did great. It picked up one street that V6 didn't have in my area.

Sure wish someone with access to the map data for the 315 Nav radio would send it to Loki so he could dissect it for us 315 owners!

I doubt it is possible. Or if it is, it is going to be hard.
My guess is when you update the map with the SD card you purchased, system will somehow write an info on that SD (i.e. increase the counter) and therefore it can only update it once. Unless someone is willing to try to record the image of the SD card before the card is even been used.

Eric is dead on, I am still trying to reverse engineer it. I need to get a hold of a card before it is used now to compare. I have a theory, but until that happens, it is only a theory. I have my hands on one that has been used. I need to compare to see if there is anything I can do about it, which I am sure there is.

Haha, that was what I was thinking. But not easy to ask someone who spend $$ just to let us create the image file. Guess we have a very similar "theory!"

If anyone who is confused about what we are talking about, let me try to explain it: someone needs to "take a picture" of original image in that SD card before it is used, then we can know what is altered after used by comparing with the used one.

LokiWolf -

FYI, the V7 map data loaded fine (needed two tries - I think the car powering down during the load caused the first to fail) and is working great! And for all the others "on the fence" - the image available for upload works fine, so if you have an issue, it's *NOT* the file on LokiWolf's server!

LokiWolf - check you PayPal - you have a token of my appreciation for all the hard work waiting for you!

Issues...

So - I did have enough time to determine the issue still exists. I have tried paring the phone - five times; hasn't helped. What happens is that when in a call - can happen at any moment - the calling party sounds like their in a tunnel (on my end) and they cannot hear me. It reminds me of a over driven amplifier - going into thermal shut down. The last two items to replace would be either the Mic or the Aux input as everything else has been replaced.

Repaired the BT device - have not had enough time in the vehicle to determine if problem still exists. Problem is intermittent at best.

Chris, Sorry you are having so much trouble!

What all has been replaced?

I have several mirrors up, let the requests come!

Also, in the PM, include whether you need it All(4366 Firmware, VIM, v.7M Maps), or just Maps.

Ditto. After update, checked system info and the Map data clearly states version 8050. Hope we keep getting map data updates for the RNS-510 and that you crack the RNS-315. Thanks for your efforts and assistance.

OT, Saw someone over on VWvortex that put a SSD into their RNS-510. Any thoughts on attempting this on your unit?

I think I recall someone doing the SSD swap successfully, and the result was pretty much a yawn, since the disk really isn't the limiting factor in the heads responsiveness. Perhaps if the hard drive were to fail, otherwise, it would appear to me to be a solution in search of a problem . . .

You are welcome.

SSD upgrades have been a mixed bag, some successful, some not. Because it is still an IDE interface and not SATA, it's speed is still limited. The speed increase would be most noticeable during reading music from HDD, or pulling Map data, both are dependent on the HDD access speed heavily. Supposedly boot up and general use there is very little performance. I have a 128GB IDE SSD sitting on my shelf for just that reason, but haven't been willing to do it. One guy got it installed then the SSD had issues with the cold, so he removed it....
