reverse camera

Has anyone installed a backup camera on a 2013 Golf that works with the RNS-510 screen?
An oem pop up camera that works with the rear emblem/latch is available for around $600.
Is there anything less expensive?
(I'm not interested in using another display.)

Sounds pretty steep. There is a CL ad in the SF Bay Area parts section ( search jetta) for a backup camera set up for $199. I think it is suppose to work w OEM audio. It's for a JSW but may work w Golf.

The Jetta has it's license plate in the trunk lid/tailgate area. The camera I installed on my car is one piece with the release switch. Since the Golf's release switch is part of the emblem, this wouldn't work. Any camera that attaches to the plate area, would only be looking straight at the ground, since the plate on the Golf is lower down on the bumper.

i've fitted the emblem camera to my car...AMAZING!

swapping the badge over and fitting the drain tube is the easy part...laying 99% of the loom is simple...the hardest part is threading the loom to the camera through the boot rubbers... aside from that, its down the side of the seat, along the sill under the trim, up under the footwell, behind the dash and into the rns!

Mine has a beeping sound when backing up, only when the car feels it is in danger of hitting an objects, beeps get louder as the car gets closer to the object, much cheaper than camera...

That's because German car companies are too cheap to include a backup camera (and things like keyless access) as standard equipment on a car that costs more than $40K.
