replacing seat pad on a stock mk4 seat.

has anyone ever replaced their seat pad with this:

my seat's feeling pretty worn, and on those long drive, my lower back really starts to feel it. anyone know how easy it is to access this pad on their seat? is there a zipper or something which gives access? Also, if you have electric seats, is there anything i should be aware of?

Can't seem that hard to do. Just unbolt your seat from the car, take it out, and look underneath to see what it takes to take it apart.

MKIV platform are getting to that age and high mileage that the foam is probably breaking down ..

Wonder what the shelve life is on it ..

I'd be curious to know how this looks in a DIY write up..

hmm.. so apparently the heating elements are glued to the seat foam. It's pretty hard to remove without damaging the elements. So if we're thinking about replacing the foam, we'd probably have to replace the heat elements as well. Bummer.

Don't have a problem with the seat, but the vertical area on the seatback side on the drivers side is getting worn. Maybe my pointy butt doing that? Is there any reason that can not be replaced with a leatherette type of material?
