Replacement passenger headlight assembly NOT normal

Has anyone had one of their headlights replaced to find that the socket the bulb sits on is totally different then the factory one?

My passenger headlight assembly is a cheap replacement and was SUCH a PITA to replace the bulb on.

I guess I am just here venting.

How are HID conversions for my 06TDI? it was really easy on my 07wrx (which already had projector lenses in) and it didnt blind people. Just mounted the ballast to the frame and plugged it in to retro bulbs.

I had the same issue with a 2009 Jetta Sportwagen. The vehicle had been in a accident and the previous owner took the insurance money and fixed the car himself. He obviously bought a cheap piece of junk aftermarket headlight which caused a real PITA when trying to fit the bulbs.

Rockauto has the cheap Chinese headlights for $95 and they have OEM Hella lights for $195. The Hella lights won't have the neat little VW emblem on the inside but otherwise they're identical. Hella is the OEM supplier on my 2009 Jetta and they probably are on your 2006 model too.
