Does anyone know where you can get a good replacement exhaust system turbo back for a 01 jetta tdi.the ones im seeing are mainly stainless steel and not really wanting to go that route if i dont have to they are proud of those dudes.i mean it cost more than the one i put on my super duty, and im getting tired of fixing the hood stack

There are just too many to list....
Nothing as good as the OEM stuff, but that's all NLA now. The rule of thumb 'you get what you pay for' probably applies here.

Bosal (the brand) stuff generally fits pretty well, though. Techtonics Tuning has some pretty decent stuff usually, too.

I bought a complete system from IDParts a year or two back - came with everything aft of the exhaust manifold, including hardware and clamps, in one box. Was $399, and then I added a full set of hangers for only $67 extra (most of the original ones were in good shape, but at >400K, why not refresh at that price?. Not OEM, but seemed to be made to OEM specs. Fit perfectly on my 02 Jetta sedan, seems to be holding up fine. I'm quite pleased with it so far.

Unfortunately, it seems to be out of stock right now. Maybe @IndigoBlueWagon can provide insight as to if/when he might get more in?

I can recommend these people. Mebbe 4yrs or so ago I got a complete exhaust, no cat. At that time they
were selling them on Ebay. It fit my Golf beautifully, possibly NLA due to EPA crackdown. May be
worth trying, give them a call.

I bought the same thing from IDParts about 2 years ago. It’s holding up fine after two upstate NY salt seasons.

I haven't installed it yet, but I'm sitting on a muffler from idParts. At 175K on my Mk4 wagon, in NH (but with limited winter driving at this point): the outer heat shield on my muffler was about to fall off, but the muffler itself was still intact, so.... I put a single large, wrap-around, worm gear clamp on it to hold the shield on for now. Hey, I may be cheap... but I'm cheap.

The muffler they sent me is the "round" style, stainless, looks good.

Now that I'm living on Uncle Sam's pay check I prefer to think I'm frugal. :)

I wrapped a coathanger around mine nearly 10 years ago. It's still there. Got you beat for cheap

Lol.... Back in the day, when I was working at a service station we often had to get into a car to be able to tow it: They're not coat hangers, they're burglary tools!! Always carried one under the driver's seat of my '72 Blazer, for the 30+ years I had it; used it often! My proudest moment -- using a coat hanger to get into an illegally-parked mid-60s VW Beetle -- without breaking any glass.

P2B, yep, that beats my fix! PS-- that worm-drive clamp is still holding up, as is the muffler!

Wellll... we prefer not to use that term... lol
But yes, I've opened many a family member/friend/coworker's car with a wire coat hanger. Had to get into a friend's car in the Calgary airport parking lot one time, didn't have a coat hanger just some mechanics wire, so I doubled it up and twisted it together, did the trick. Good skill to have.

We typically stock these, from an Italian company IMASAF. Very much like stock, I have one on my '99.5 Golf.

We're currently out of the downpipe but have an order ready for pickup at the factory next week. Should be here in mid-late April.

If my Jetta goes missing I now know where to look…

Lol I haven't tried getting into these cars yet. I may be able to get in but I'm not getting anywhere without a key and with the immo intact. 😂
The one at the airport was a 90's Buick, a little simpler than our cars lol.

I always joke I drive Jettas because no one wants to steal them because of the maintenance. But seriously they would be a pain to steal. Dang civics and Chevy trucks are just asking to be stolen.

Yep, that's the one I bought for my car a couple years back. Fit beautifully (though we couldn't figure out how to use one of the clamps and substituted a traditional ubolt-style one, not a big deal), works great.
