Replace 2011 Golf fog light

Picked up a rock so had to pick up a new fog light assembly for our 2011 Golf TDI.

Been checking out the front assembly and can't see how to replace this unit.

Anyone gone through this pain & can share the secret?

remove the fog grill.. There should be one screw holding in. Then pry it away.

Thanks for the idea.

I was hoping that it was as simple as the older models appear to be but the only screw opening is for adjusting the aim. With no access screws, I can't figure out if I need to pry the face panel off, access from the wheel well side, or (horror of horrors) head back to the dealership.

Hopefully it doesn't come down to that last option!

after you unscrew the face panel you should just be able to pry it off. No dealer is necessary for that. The panel clips might be tight in there but it should come off.

be careful prying off the panel... Some people reported that in some cases they were glued in on some cars. Not sure why...

No screw on the Golf. Just pull off the grill. It's held on by tabs only. Once you get the grill off, then there's a single screw holding the light assembly up.

There's a thread on this somewhere with pictures of the tabs. Try google search for mkvi golf foglights.

With the help of the pictures, the project was too simple to wait for the weekend.

15 minutes was about all it took to change the cracked fog light assembly out.
