Well the title says it all.. I have just purchased a 2012 Jetta TDI and was wondering if there are any after market starters available that will be compatible.
Thanks!

Does your 2012 have KESSY (push button start)? If yes that will seriously complicate things. Also, living in Canada, you will need a remote starter with a time delay between turning on the ignition and the starter (for the glow plugs to warm up). There are some companies that make them. You will also have to figure out how to get around the immobilizer. Also consider, diesel engines do not warm up very well at all at an idle. Here's some reading for you.

Search will be your friend, if you bother to get to know it.

Have Fun!

Thanks a lot for the information guys! My Jetta does have the KESSY system and came with a factory block heater (is this the same as a circulating coolant heater?), I plan to use this in the morning leaving home but unsure what I will do leaving work (no plugs anywhere near my parking lot). I did read the links posted by JSTTDI09 (thanks again!) suppose i will just have to drive until it heats up..

Technically, if I am not mistaken, as I have the same car, the factory "block" heater is not actually block heater, it is a circulating coolant heater.
The frostheater's or Zerostart heaters work amazing, and are usually 750, 1000, or 1500W.
The factory heaters in our cars I believe are 500W, but still work quite well from what I hear. Haven't tried mine yet.

Any updates on this matter?
Recently moved and have no access to an electric plug because parking on public street, plus the part that sucks is that my commute starts (after 3 kms) on highway.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
