Can someone please confirm for me that it's normal when starting car that your drl's blink a few times. This can be done either by remote start or from in car. This is a vid I just made. I'm troubleshooting a drl problem in having. Not sure if this is normal. Didn't notice till installing led's.

Its not doing that on mine. Maybe a bad ground or bad connection?

My DRL's will flash just like that anytime the ignition is turned on, wether it is via remote start or the start button.

It is because the LED's use such low power, and when the BCM sends the pulses for the bulb monitoring circuit, the pulses are just enough power to light the LED where as with a standard halogen bulb it is not enough power to make the filament glow.

Perfectly normal for the LED's. This has been discussed before. Regular bulbs won't do this. Pretty sure it is the BCM testing the circuits and because the LED's have faster response and need less voltage to light, they blink. Mine have done it every time I start the car since I installed the LED's.

I type too slow, Fix beat me to it.

Yes it is normal to see the flashing on startup when you install LEDs. That's the pulse sent by the body control module to test all of the lamps (for lamp monitoring). The pulse is only visible with LEDs because incandescent lamps aren't responsive enough to actually see the pulse.

It is quite visible on our Passat's LED tail lights.

edit: I guess I should have read the other two replies that said the same thing.

Thanks. Helps me troubleshoot why my drl's haven't worked since I installed them.

Most of the LED DRLs are pole specific, as in it matters how they are installed. Flip them within the socket, and they should work.

Loki, but he says they flash when he does the remote start.

So I believe they are in correctly. I bet it is a problem with his coding.

Are they turned off in the MFI (this option needs to be added in VCDS).
