This thread was awesome. I'm sad to see it dying. I was reading it this time last year before I put my deposit money down. 446 pages and over a half million views. I was mentioning to another member that VOA doesn't seem to appreciate the brand loyalty that they have.

Me too! I put my deposit down on 8/8/08. I spent a month here learning everything I could, mostly from this thread. I feel like I got a nice, round education from it.

I think we put our money down the same day. I'm so jealous you're in Austin. I really want to come back to Texas in the worst way. I graduated HS in Humble TX and I went to TTU in Lubbock. After, I moved east for work, then back to DFW before moving back east again.

I'm ready to come home. How's the economy doing there?

I remember reading some of your other posts but I'll need to look back to see what you wrote. I remember it was something significant to me.

Austin is great, though not what it used to be. On it's way to being a huge city. Very, very crowded. But a lot of the good stuff is still intact. The economy is in fantastic shape. Houses are still selling. As long as UT and the Capitol stay here, we'll be in good shape. Texas has about the strongest economy in the nation and Austin is the center of it all. Although I do prefer the weather that my family in Virginia has out east.

Anyway, back on subject, I've had my JSW for 7 months and I love it. With my bike rack and cargo box, I feel like it has totally replaced my Xterra, although maybe I can't jump any curbs. But then again, the Xterra couldn't squeal the tires either.

They are not ventable..........since the 05.5! They are actually quite easy to top up though.
Thanks for the fast reply. I can't seem to top off with much fuel though. I loved stuffing in 2+ extra gallons in my '06.

I received my TDI on 12/12/08 4,000 miles+, Low miles since I am retired. about 38mpg. no problems yet. If you havn't been to the owners perk site it's worth a look. the latest item I picked is their spiral bound road atlas w/100 sites to visit. the pages are large w/some states cover both open pages. free except for shipping. It would cost at least double the shipping cost to buy. If you have nav and I do, you can't get a large overall visual of your route which I like to see. also picked up 6 of the tote bags 1.99 each. when I get back to the wagon I just put 3 or 4 wal-mart sized bags into each. grap 2 tote bags in each hand. no tearing bags and some glass item dropping out and breaking. That's happened. Usually 1 trip from the car in. dhal

Hey everyone,

I'm relatively new to this forum and was originally going to hold out for the upcoming 2010 Golf TDI but for reasons of practicality I think I'm better off opting for a JSW (sportwagen). Are these still in high demand? Meaning is it going to be difficult for me to acquire one below MSRP? Maybe that depends on the area you live in? I'm not sure. On a separate note I've also read a lot of negative press about VWs that are assembled in Puebla versus Wolfsburg. I read that the process is 80% automated now so the build depends primarily on robots. Are people just exhibiting a racist attitude, e.g. "Mexicans can't build a car as well as Germans"? I know the training they receive is pretty rigorous. Is there any hard evidence linking reliability to origin of assembly? Should I be concerned where my veedub is assembled?

$600 over invoice from Chris Farnham (tdiclub: "3193") at Langhorne VW in Langhorne PA. Chris is one of the best TDI salesmen here.

The JSW 2010's are not here so no way to determine demand; however I see no reason to believe it will be greatly different from the 09's (i.e. HIGH), unless they increase production significantly.
I know of no current, reliable data on quality comparing Puebla vs other VW plants. ALL Jetta Mk V's sold in the US since intro in 2005 have been assembled in Puebla. All TDI engines are built in Europe and installed in US-bound Jettas in Puebla.
For a sample size of 1, our car is excellent in assembly and finish.

Thanks Dave, yeah I imagine demand will be high, especially with C4C going strong. I imagine VW will produce fewer cars so they can command MSRP. makes sense i guess, that's what Harley Davidson does I hear. Oh, and I'm not going to worry about the Puebla factor. I appreciate your input.

Call your dealerships and ask for dealer invoice. I hear 2010 prices will be about the same as 2009. I have had 2 dealerships in Houston accept dealer invoice, and I've had 2 say no way, these are in demand cars and they will absolutely not go lower than MSRP. I put in a deposit in early July at invoice.

Seriously Doubt that you will see that car before November.......plus the fact that Mexican plant went on Strike yesterday!

Chris, the vendor on this board (3193) alluded to an increase of $349 on the 2010 sedans, but nothing on SWs...anyone have any news?

I put my order in June for a 2009 JSW. No vehicles available in my config. Now waiting on 2010. Wait has me more than somewhat miffed. I pray that I can take delivery before Thanksgiving. All I want is a JSW, Blue Graphite Metallic, anything else but black interior, no sunroof. Just a plain JSW. What a pain....

Prices just came out on the 2010 Mk6 Golf:
http://www.vw.com/golf/pricelist/en/us/

The starting point for the Golf 4-door with manual is ~$23,500 after destination charge. That's about where the 2009 Sportwagen starts today! I think the price of the wagon HAS to be a good $2000 more than the Golf, otherwise there's no sense in buying the Golf. So I would look for the JSW prices to go up.

A news release I read, stated there have been a few problems with the 2009 DSG trans ( 5 of about 14000) . A faulty heat sensor may be the source of some of them shutting down. VW # to call is 800-444-8982. dhal I did not save the link.
