Here's a JSW at Vyletel VW in Sterling Heights, MI (northern suburb of Detroit). We bought our 2006 Beetle there, pretty straight-forward sale.

2009 Jetta Sportswagen TDI Automatic
Black / Pure Beige Interior
Panoramic Sun Roof
17" Alloy Wheels
MSRP $27,389.00

Nice to see the beige interiors showing up now. I'm sure they are quite lovely :(

There were also eight TDI sedans listed in the email (including one with nav!), which I won't bother posting since this is the JSW thread :p

I think black and tan (or beige) is the classiest looking combination.
Looks great on Beetles, too, with a black body and tan top.

Wow - like mine except opposite :D

I especially like the demo green leaf applique ;)

I'll see if I can post piccies of my new whip on Monday. Should be lots of Texas bugs on the bumper. My loan officer and their finance officer are hashing out how to get the funds transferred right now.

Danger, Will Robinson!

Carrying $X,000 in cash in a airport (X can vary, I think) can open you/it up to asset forfeiture (the money is presumed guilty, because it "likely" came from drug sales/laundering -- thank the war on drugs for that one). The Feds will gladly give you a receipt for it, and you can then try to go through the lengthy process to prove where it came from, and maybe get [some of] it back.

Also, the auto dealer will be required by law to report the large cash transaction to the feds. Not that it's against the law to pay cash, but it will put you on a list somewhere for possible further scrutinizing/monitoring.

Yes, paying cash would be fun, but beware the potential consequences!

Rod East San Antonio. Ask for Demetrius - he'll hook you up. Demetrius isn't an Internet guy, but he'll put forward his best effort to make sure you're happy.

I'm not sure what they have inbound now. They had a whole bunch of TDIs redirected to them after the hurricane that were originally bound for Houston.

No airports for me, but I did forget about the dealer's reporting requirement.... I ought to know better....

An $8 wire transfer to the dealer's bank should do it... providing the dealer is a trustable sort. Unfortunately, these days, even a bank check isn't like cash or a wire... they "can" be stopped.

Can you clarify this, Paul? How can a bank check be stopped? You just got me very nervous.

I got them talking to each other instead of playing Telephone through me. So long as they're both happy by Friday afternoon.

White JSW anyone?

Talked to salesman after my ordered JSW arrived. I ordered the silver goal 17" wheels{$1350 option-$900 more than 17" Avignon's} with the understanding through info on Edmunds.com and the very helpful Chris[3193] that there would be a set of 16" Dittos in the rear of the car when delivered. When there were none and my wife inquired why [after hearing two salesmen discussing the potential problem-the sales mgr. said that there was no second set of wheels and tires and even if there were-we wouldn't get them-the dealership would! My wife came back with-"we ordered the car and we're paying for it-so the wheels should be ours.Sales manager came back with "no cars leave our dealership with two sets of wheels and tires." He said that's it-take it or leave it-he made absolutely no attempt to work the problem out. I'm sorry-he obviously needs the car more than I do! My ex-car now is for for sale at Stuart VW. I don't think I'll be looking to purchase a car from them again in my lifetime unless my wife gets a MAJOR apology for some seriously rude treatment! So for future purchasers-beware of the wheel options or maybe just beware of the dealers.

Call them back now and tell them you're calling your State Attorney General's office for deceptive business practices unless they sell you the car at the agreed terms. If they refuse, then immediately follow through with the AG.

Have you spoken with VW yet about the issue? I'm sure they'll be willing to go on record that you're supposed to get two sets of wheels with any upgrade (excluding avignons for $450).

My wife spoke with customer care for VW. They wouldn't commit to anything and really didn't have a clue-even though she was put on hold by the representative numereous times so the rep. could consult someone else. They basically said they couldn't say and that maybe the dealer returns them to VW. They also said no cars leave a dealership with two sets of wheels. When asked to explain the meaning of the JCT wheel option on edmunds.com-they couldn't.

From the Ask a VW Salesman thread over here:

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2626985&page=304

Derek Douglas, Internet Manager at Commonwealth VW says:

"Unless option box NTO is checked, wheels go with the car..."

Make sure that the option NTO isn't on your order.

It's like them claiming just before you pick up the car that the steering wheel isn't included in the price.

By spoiler, do you mean rear spoiler? It shows as an option on VW.com
but every Sportwagen I've seen has it on. I'll let you know for sure tomorrow.
Yes, according to the dealer I am to buy my JSW from mine already has one on it and came like that from the factory.
Also some other data points for options

1. Integrated Fog Lights
Dealer Response (DR) -- $558 installed
2. Door side moldings
DR -- $211 is cost with labor but I think they need to be painted
3. Rear Spoiler
DR -- not sure about this one as there is already one from the factory
4. Monster Mats
DR -- included
5. cargo net
DR-- $62

One question still remains for me is if the integrated fog lights have all of the options that were discussed in the fine answers I received from my original question.

JVANCE, Congrats on the pending pick-up of your long-awaited JSW, we will all be looking forward to pictures and comments. Let me know how the bike rack works out, I need to spend my REI dividend on something next year, and the rack on my jeep is so 'tweaked' from multiple run-ins with my garage.
Have a safe flight and journey

Listen to me whine

So my impatience has got me in a little pickle. I had an order (refundable deposit) from a AZ dealer. With no word and very little information coming from VW, I decided to jump on a chance offer by Chris F. (3193) on a JSW in the Philly area. No sooner (a week) after I lay down my deposit to get a car in Nov rather than next year, than the dealer from AZ calls and says my car will arrive Jan 5th. So I tried canceling the order from Philly, but was told my deposit was non-refundable. What a bummer, should've checked that up front. Honestly wasn't trying to play gamesmanship with these guys. Just bites because of VW's screwed up ordering process. So now I'll be spending my turkey day driving back from PA, and not get the "exact" car we wanted. Either way I am excited to get a car, but the dealer from AZ was good to me so I don't want to leave him hanging so if anybody wants to take my order (I'll have to check" It is a Blue Graphite, Art Grey, 6spM, 4x4 rear airbags and Pano roof. I was never told what the final price was other than MSRP only, but as you may have read from some of JVance's posts the AZ dealers have some local tax issues and high doc fees. If interested PM me, and I'll do some leg work.
Thanks for listening and yes I do like cheese with my wine.

Just received a link from VW.com congratulating me on my purchase of a JSW TDi, and if we would be interested in taking some time to fill out a survey. My wife and I are crafting the responses now. This should make for good fodder for someone.
Has anyone else received one of these emails?

Unless the "NTO" option was checked when the car was spec. ordered (or allocated), the original set of wheels 16" Dittos will not come with the car. Allocated cars with optional wheels default to not having the NTO option. Perhaps not even the dealer knows about this since it's a new '09 scheme.

The 17" Avignons are less expensive because, as an option, they cancel the possibility of NTO being checked.
From Edmunds:
NTO Stops Take-Off Wheel Delivery to Dealer
REQUIRES JBT or JCT or JDT or JET.
note that PJD (17" Avignons are not listed)

I'm really confused-two VW salesman say no NTO means I get the wheels and you say the opposite? Does it come down to if someone does or doesn't get a box checked on the order form- it's a $900 foopa? Shame on VW-they couldn't have made this any cloudier!!

They are black only. I believe they come with a slightly textured finish. I don't believe they are made to be painted. If they were paintable they'd come with a smooth, glossy surface, and would not look good unpainted.

Body-colored side molding is one of those items that fell to the 'de-contenting' axe to keep prices down.

I think you're wrong. "Stops take-off delivery to dealer" means the wheels stay at the port instead of getting delivered to the dealer with the car.
