Can anyone who's already landed their JSW (or not) recommend a good dog barrier for the '09? I was hoping to find a good metal gate to keep my poorly trained dog out of the passenger part of my still somewhat imaginary car.

I can't recommend, from experience, any of these: http://www.mightypets.com/subcat.asp?0=519
but I can tell you that the "Euro Style" models are a huge PITA to deal with.
The model Midwest model 15N is considered the premium (9 out of 10 Escalade owners with dogs recommend it) but you can see by the price it's well, pricey

Have you looked at the factory option metal cargo partition?

My poorly trained dogs have been given the ultimatum on front seat occupancy (meaning I had to train them about this very important matter).

All I have to deal with at this point is hot steamy dog-breath down the back of my neck, and slobber all over the aft of the car...

:( I paid for a sport wagon in full with a promised delivery date of this December. I just a call a month ago saying that I wouldn't see my car for 2 years. I got a refund.

That's horrible! How picky are you about colors and options? If you're fairly flexible and you're willing to travel a little you can have one within two months right now at MSRP. There's a fair sized bubble coming down the pipeline.

Here's what you do. Go to VWVortex.com and register an account. Then go here:

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2626985&page=296

and ask the very nice salesmen there if they can find a car for you.

Ask for any cars in production stock or later, in the area you're willing to travel, with the colors and option you specify. I'd suggest being flexible about the colors, and figure out the one or two options you really want, and/or the one or two you can't live with. They should be able to find a few cars that aren't spoken for yet.

Good luck!

I paid for my Jetta Wagen in full 3 days before getting it. I am not sure I would have paid 3 months before, but it seems people really want this car.

Plat Grey with Maine plates spotted in NH

At around noon in Exeter, NH I was driving my gold Audi 200 with license plate AUDI on High St. and let (you?) out into traffic to turn right onto NH Route 108 North. Maine license plate "LOCKUP" on a platinum grey TDI Sportwagen with 16" wheels, sold by "Quirk" VW. You can thank me now for not carjacking you :D Anybody here?

Thanks Zlartibartfast! I'll look into those suggestions. Pardon my total ignorance on the matter, but is there a factory option metal cargo partition? I did a quick search & only came up with a Tiguan option. Perhaps I just wasn't thorough enough. . .

You guys that have yours already- do you have the changer under the armrest?

...or a slider over the cupholders?

...with HID's and sprayers for the headlights?

...and an ashtray in the back doors?

...and drawers under the front seats?

...and was it made in Germany?

There goes the idea that 100% of the worlds sportwagens are made in Mexico- looks like just ours are. I think I saw on oempl.us that they sell a bunch of these euro goodies that we don't get. Anyone planning a full euro conversion?
BTW, I took these pics last week at the VW department store on the corner of Friedrichstrasse and Unter den Linden in former East Berlin. I also got to see and sit in the new MkVI Golf, which they still keep covered up most of the time...

I know it's frustrating that we don't have all these options but I'm sure it's not because VW hates America. Someone, somewhere figured out that VW would make more money for it's share holders by NOT offering these options in America. It's not personal, just business.

I'm not sure why you'd choose the armrest-mounted cd changer over the center-console one. Is it just me or does the Euro configuration take up more precious space?

Eewww! I sure hope not. Nobody is smoking in my car. If they do, then the option I want would be the Ejection Seat (requires Big Roof System).

Hey jvance - you can still get a Halon extinguisher if you claim it's for an aircraft....
(I've been saving mine for a REAL emergency)

I agree with Plonker - that's really just a lot of Euro-bling IMHO

Yeah, but that sticker shows that car listing for 35,600 euros ($48,000)!!!!
Yoiks - that's a lot of Rohertrag for a bit of Fahrvergnügen!

Good question. In place of the in dash 6 disk changer was this:

There was also a flip-lid over the center console cubby hole, and in addition to the esp switch, some sort of tire pressure warning switch.

dealer with 2 sedans and 1 jsw

greenville sc. 2 sedans and a jsw, and has a free 250.00 gas card special (you would think they would call it a fuel card as gas and tdi's don't do well). first promotion on a tdi might be here. 250 gas card will get you around 67 gallons of diesel and over 2700 miles.

Dam, looks like I'm going to have to visit my MIL to get a JSW.

JSW tdis are rarer than Hen's teeth in Massachusetts

go out and buy one this weekend

there here and at msrp in the south east. easy to find sedans and can choose from 10 different wagons with in 300 miles of my house on auto trader. no excuses anymore get on out there and buy one this weekend.

for those who have not used autotrader make sure you search 2009/2009, jetta, do advanced search and choose fuel and enter diesel and if you are looking for wagons type that in in keywords. choose distance from zip code. they will come up!!

I had a dealer email me yesterday that he still doesn't know when they're getting TDI JSWs  but they'll give me a lifetime powertrain warranty on any VW. It's not a good time to be a car dealer, even if you're selling TDIs.

I asked about the barrier at the dealer when I purchased my car, and it was over $300 and needed to be ordered. I picked up my JSW right before Labor Day and needed to tarvel with the dogs that weekend, so I went to Petco, and for about $80, got the Precision® Universal Vehicle Pet Barrier, and it works incredibly well. I was worried because it said it was for SUV's and had asome bad reviews about fitment, but I was able to install it in a few minutes and it's worked wonders with my 2, 50# lab mixes. I can post some pictures tomorrow if you'd like, but I can't imageine paying $300+ from the dealer after using this one for the past 3000+ miles.

I believe this is the same one on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Precision-Pet-ProConcepts-Vehicle-Universal/dp/B00028J1OG
