Regen frequency?

I have a '15 Golf, ~11K miles. I don't keep any records but I would consistently detect a regen cycle (both while driving or when arriving at my destination and the fan keeps running) at least once per tank and sometimes more frequently until recently. Again, no records but this is what is seemed like.
Now, with no change in my city/rural mix driving routine, my regen frequency seems to be much less. I'm not sure how less frequent because I can't even recall my last regen cycle. I have a manual so it's easy to notice the cycle and I haven't taken any road trips.
The only change that I can think of is the colder weather now. The other possible variable is having the 10K service performed.
Anyone else experienced this or have any ideas?

I wish they had an indication or at least a way to see when last successful one was completed

A ScanGaugeII is an affordable way to monitor exhaust temperatures and other engine data. I highly recommend it, particularly if you're interested in monitoring regenerations.

A regen should happen at least every ~450 miles. They will happen more frequently when your drive cycle is shorter, and less frequently when your drive cycle is longer.

Just because I posted this yesterday, i noticed a regen happening today on my way home from work. I reset my trip meter, so i'll report back when it happens again.

Many regens occur while driving and you won't even notice them unless you are monitoring EGTs. It is possible to not notice them. How often they occur depends on your driving. I have gauges that monitor my car including miles since the last regen. In city driving my car does a DPF regeneration every 150-200 miles; even sooner, if I get stuck in traffic and the car stops the regen early (not every regen is "complete"). On the highway (70+ mph) regens only happen every 400-500 miles. In mixed city/highway driving regen frequency can vary quite a bit, especially if you only count the ones that you notice.

Have Fun!

Of course since I posted about this observation, I had a regen this morning. It definitely still seems less frequent than before which is fine by me.

Torque app for $5 and a cheap OBD2 Bluetooth reader for less than $15 will allow a lot of information to be displayed. Assumes you have an Android device. I'm using my sons old phone. It's a cracked screen S5. Works great as app display. No cel connection needed. Meaning it's not an active phone. Just downloaded app from wifi. Monitoring all 3 temps Thing gets hot. Wel over 1000F for EGT.
