I'd like to clean mine as well, or at least take the EGR valve off and clean that, then scrape as much out of the end of the intake as I can. I'd also like someone who's got some first hand experience as well.. I think Mike H has cleaned his, maybe we can all get together in March sometime when it warms up and do it then?

Id be willing to offer up my shop, if someone brings beer and food or tools as a contribution : )
I can get about 3 cars at a time in my heated shop. Its in Hubbards, 35 mins from Bayers Lake....

I'd be willing to drive down for this if the timing fits. I could learn a little and also get to meet some of you people. But then again you may not want me 'cause I'm only from N.B.

Sounds like fun. Well sort of fun, it's a pain in the butt actually. Took me 5 or 6 hours. That included cleaning the intercooler. If you take off the EGR assy you can see how bad it is and if a complete cleaning is necessary. If you do take off the intake manifold you will need to replace the gasket. Let me know when & where.

I'd be interested, especially with a heated garage. I have the power to buy beer if beer is needed /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Mostly I'm just interested in cleaning the EGR out, I dunno if I have the ambition to clean out the intercooler and remove the intake as well.

Andrew and I recalibrated the EGR in my car tonight... sure as heck stinks more and there's a little cloud while hard on throttle - but that's the price you pay to have cleaner air in the engine!

I LOVE IT!!

Hey Andrew

I was just talking to Mike and we were wondering if you'd still like to get together sometime when it warms up (say the end of the month or in April) a bit to do some fun intake cleaning? /images/graemlins/laugh.gif We're looking at some stuff on my car tonight and I think we'll take a peek in the EGR valve to get an idea of how gunked up it is. If it's pretty bad I'd like to spend an afternoon and do a decent cleaning, and since you were interested in this as well we might as well do it at the same time.

I certainly can't speak for Andrew, but if he's willing to meet up with you guys sometime, I'd like to tag along to meet you guys and have a few beers and tinker.

What do you think?

That'd be great, hopefully I can get kidkoala to come along as well, but I haven't talked to him for awhile now.

Anyway, what I'm really interested in doing now is moving the VNT actuator rod on the turbo by hand, I think mine is sticking which is causing my car to go into limp mode (at around 140km/h in 5th gear or above 4000rpm in 3rd/4th gear). I've heard it's a hassle to get to it from the top of the car, so I need to get underneath, but I have no garage or a way to lift the car to get underneath it. Of course, having a couple of people to help out (maybe if we can reach the rod from beneath and above the car at the same time) would be awesome.

Anybody have a way to get the car off the ground??

Hey I practically live under my car /images/graemlins/cool.gif I have ramps and jack stands so no problem to raise it up. A garage would be nice but not critical. On a nice day (Springs almost here) a driveway is fine.

Well when it's nice out (not for awhile if you look at the damn weather forcasts /images/graemlins/mad.gif) I'll have to come by and drive the car up onto some ramps so we can check out my VNT actuator rod.. and then have a beer or two :p
