Outstanding! How are you feeling about your purchase so far?
Well I couldn't be happier. I'm impressed with the mpg on the first tank because I did about 30% was city miles and still got over 50 mpg! I started a new job in Cincinnati which is a LOT hillier the Indianapolis is, so there was also the terrain change. I can see this car getting in the high 50's with a tank were flat terrain, 90/10 split hwy/city, and speeds holding around 65 mph.

Not to speak of how much car you get and what is considered standard on a SE. You really feel like your driving a German engineered car. I was a little worried about the seats with the threads about them being hard and uncomfortable. I think the seats are fine and the firmness is was I have expected from a German engineering.

i know it is different because of multiple factors but once the MFI is reading a range of "0" how far have you pushed it without running dry? I went 17 miles and got 17.84 gallon into the tank topped off.

I don't think I have gotten to "0" yet, closest I have come is 5 miles.

Good news: My commute dropped from 40 miles each way to 11 each way this week.
Bad news: MPG dropped from low 50s to high 30s, now that I'm sitting in traffic instead of cruising down the highway. I think my days of 50MPG tanks are behind me, unfortunately.

Last fill up was at 699 miles and I got 55.21 MPG. This was for 11 days commuting.

Finally got my running average (12.6K miles in total) over 50 MPG. :D

Picked up my new 2015 Passat TDI 6M yesterday.

Driving home from dealer (85 miles, all interstate highway) registered 51.1 mpg.

Friend drove my 2013 Beetle TDI DSG, following me, registered 45 mpg.

The most I've gone past range zero is 78 miles. For that tank we got 42.6 MPG (hand calculated) and filled with 19.072 gallons. That isn't the most we've put in the tank. One tank we filled with 19.722 gallons. I'm not even sure how it all fit in. We haven't run it dry yet (knock on wood) and don't plan to.

Can anyone else comment on going 50+ miles after the MFD reading "0" miles remaining?

My 3 tank every I got a 47.4 hand calc on 840 miles. With a split of 50/50 between hwy/city.

My mileage is way up in the warmer weather. Best I've done is 775 mi on a tank. And 18.14 gallons. Right now I'm at 46 mpg. I reset #2 every tankful. I need to try harder, although I cruise at 72 to work, about 20 miles away.
I almost gave my passenger a heart attack when I drove another 50 miles after the low fuel ding went off. I wasn't worried. It is a game she does not understand.

I just got a 962mile tank, without any tricks like topping up. The wind was at my back however, heh. It worked out to 57.9 mpg, with 30 miles left on MFI. BTW the MFI said I was getting 60.3 mpg for most of that trip.

I have decided not to work so hard to get these high mpgs though. It's just uncomfortable going that much slower than the rest of traffic (e.g. 65 in a 75 zone). I don't like tractor-trailer rigs on my tail...

A couple other notes, these mileages are usually done going over the Rockies (I-90). Going down the Columbia Gorge into the wind really hurts. I gave this car a hard break-in when I first got it. Once or twice a day of travel, it gets run up through the gears. And it takes a long time for that oil to warm up, so it's not a car for short commutes.

Great numbers, should have went the extra miles for the 1K club!

Just took a trip to Bayfield Wisconsin about 350 miles one way from Cedarburg WI. The 2015 Passat got 56.7 going up and 55.8 coming back, 62mph in the 55mph zone and 68mph in the 65mph zone. Our friends up there just bought a new Prius V. We drove around for a day on the country roads in the Prius. Man that little gas motor was screaming going up the hills, although there was no tach it sounded like about 4000rpms. His average for the day was 46.2mpg.

On a further note, the mileage has gotten better now that the blended diesel is gone. We are averaging about 54mpg now. We will take the Passat to British Columbia, the central Kootenay, and northern Vancouver Island in June. The estimated fuel cost for the trip $420 (7000 miles 50mpg @$3/gallon). Cheap, eh?

1650 miles on my 2015. 615 miles on 15.2 gallons for 40.46 mpg. Before you critique, realize I am in break-in mode. Additionally, with a Valentine 1 detector and 80 MPH limits, 90 MPH or higher cruising speeds are common. Enjoying the car, seating the rings.

I decided to not even bother recording during the initial breakin.

I thought about it, but the gas stations are a bit far apart, I didn't have a can of fuel in case I ran out, and anyway, I didn't care. :)

First full tank on new, shorter commute (~11 miles at ~30 MPH): 40.4 MPG. That's a drop of 9 MPG from last full tank on long commute (~40 miles at ~60 MPH), despite warmer weather. Just goes to show what a big difference the long drive at highway speeds makes. On the upside though, I did go a full month between stops at the gas station for the first time.

Got a couple of good tank averages - approx 50MPG - now I get around 45MPG. I am sure it has to do with the highway driving and city driving. What is the best way to approximate the amount of city and highway driving without keeping track of every drive....

My first highway trip, WOW

My last two vehicles were as follows: 2006 V8 Tundra, 2013 Outback. The most I can pull out of the Outback CVT was 27MPG on the highway.

Well I just took a 240 mile trip filled up before and after and I averaged 48.74 MPG. I would have to guess but 20 miles of that was lower speeds and traffic. I am very impressed with this TDI.

I don't understand why more people are not accepting Diesel... Especially these days when diesel cost the same as 87 Oct unleaded.

I love this car!

Glad to hear it!

I'm guessing flow of traffic is probably 80MPH, so you were going 15MPH slower than about everyone else? At least 10MPH.

I find the line "speed doesn't kill as much as variations in speed between different vehicles on the road" very believable.

Just finished a 500 mile run across Nevada from east to west, ending in Reno. US Highway 50, known as "the lonliest road in America". Many long stretches of 100 MPH plus, combined with steep, windy mountain passes. 37.8 MPG. Very capable car. Does everything well. The selfish side of me wants about 50 more ponies.

50-mile one-way work commute with 85-15 mix of HWY vs CITY. Just had my best tank to date of 49.8 mpg with no crazy techniques. Usually using cruise and a/c on since it's hot as hell here this time of year.
