Well I couldn't be happier. I'm impressed with the mpg on the first tank because I did about 30% was city miles and still got over 50 mpg! I started a new job in Cincinnati which is a LOT hillier the Indianapolis is, so there was also the terrain change. I can see this car getting in the high 50's with a tank were flat terrain, 90/10 split hwy/city, and speeds holding around 65 mph.Outstanding! How are you feeling about your purchase so far?
The most I've gone past range zero is 78 miles. For that tank we got 42.6 MPG (hand calculated) and filled with 19.072 gallons. That isn't the most we've put in the tank. One tank we filled with 19.722 gallons. I'm not even sure how it all fit in. We haven't run it dry yet (knock on wood) and don't plan to.i know it is different because of multiple factors but once the MFI is reading a range of "0" how far have you pushed it without running dry? I went 17 miles and got 17.84 gallon into the tank topped off.
Can anyone else comment on going 50+ miles after the MFD reading "0" miles remaining? The most I've gone past range zero is 78 miles. Great numbers, should have went the extra miles for the 1K club!I just got a 962mile tank, without any tricks like topping up. The wind was at my back however, heh. It worked out to 57.9 mpg, with 30 miles left on MFI. BTW the MFI said I was getting 60.3 mpg for most of that trip.
I have decided not to work so hard to get these high mpgs though. It's just uncomfortable going that much slower than the rest of traffic (e.g. 65 in a 75 zone). I don't like tractor-trailer rigs on my tail...
A couple other notes, these mileages are usually done going over the Rockies (I-90). Going down the Columbia Gorge into the wind really hurts. I gave this car a hard break-in when I first got it. Once or twice a day of travel, it gets run up through the gears. And it takes a long time for that oil to warm up, so it's not a car for short commutes.
I thought about it, but the gas stations are a bit far apart, I didn't have a can of fuel in case I ran out, and anyway, I didn't care.Great numbers, should have went the extra miles for the 1K club!
Glad to hear it!I have decided not to work so hard to get these high mpgs though. It's just uncomfortable going that much slower than the rest of traffic (e.g. 65 in a 75 zone).
