just as the title says. I have a 2014 Audi V6 TDI with the 3.0 engine. I have recently installed a 2872 Turbo on it. I am still in the process of tuning revisions however I get random bursts of oil smoke. I’m not sure if it is carbon being burned off left over from the 160,000 miles or so of the EGR being intact. I have cleaned the intake manifold as well as, all of the intercooler piping and replaced the intercooler with an upgraded one. I don’t know if new turbos will smoke randomly through the break-in process, but I am at a loss. My oil consumption is gone up slightly. I do not have a catch can installed.
EGR has been removed. ASV has been removed. EGR filler has been bypassed. Losing no coolant. Fuel metering valve has been upgraded. Fuel pressure sensor has been upgraded. 88mm MAF with custom intake. CCV still plugs into custom intake. No oil leaks on engine. New valve covers with clean CCV vents.
The smoking typically happens in moments of under boost. And even then it is not consistent nor am I able to make it repeat itself.
Any and all input would be very much appreciated and if there are any more questions I can answer please let me know.
I replaced the old turbo because it was burning oil constantly. The old symptoms of oil burning have gone away. Now it is just this random oil, burning problem.
I’m able to notice that it is smoking blue is because I have a hood stack directly in front of the drivers side.
Sometimes it smokes for 5 seconds and sometimes it smokes for 30 seconds.
I read that there is a chance of bad valve stem seals, but this smoking doesn’t happen on startup or under most typical scenarios.
