There was mention on the Jeep with the same engine getting around 30 on highway.
OH, Buick is going exactly nowhere. It is HUGE in China, as a result it will live on here. Why huge in China? No idea, but, it is...
...in North America. In Germany Volkswagen came out with a triumphant press release when 9% of Golfs were sold with DSGs in 2011 IIRC (largest automatic transmission share in the segment!).Cars and trucks with three pedals are going the way of the dodo!!!
Liberty had VM Motori, Grand Cherokee was M-B powered. The Jeep CRD is the VM Motori.
The old Grand Cherokee was MB powered, but the new Grand Cherokee is VM powered.Liberty had VM Motori, Grand Cherokee was M-B powered.
Ha ha, understood, thought I'd clarify since it seemed like whitedog was responding to the previous post:The old Grand Cherokee was MB powered, but the new Grand Cherokee is VM powered.![]()
He did say is but I'd read that as a reference to the GC that is available rather than the GC planned for future release. But let us not dwell on pedantics!the diesel offerings from a few years ago from chrysler group used a mercedes diesel (the CRD). The motor being offered in the new Ram trucks and Grand Cherokee is made by VM Motori of Italy and has been in service in europe for a few years now and has been doing well based on what I can find.
Patriot has been removed from the Euro market. Compass has a Mercedes OM651 now. Caliber should have gotten that too, but Dodge left the Euro market in 2011... Endeavor doesn't exist in Europe, Outlander used to have VW diesel, later switched to PSA (Peugeot and Citroën both had badge engineered Outlanders). And the little Jeeps outside of the US (Patriot, Compass) were equipped with Volkswagen diesels. As was the Caliber and Mitsubishi Endeavor.
I think they use someone else's now.
...yeah, but the Family Z is based under something that dates back to Detroit Diesel ownership of VM.As I understand, the VM Motori 4-cylinders are the basis for the GM Family Z engine made in Korea.
Pricing is key for me. If they load up the truck with manditory options, they will not sell one to me. If they offer the engine in a tradesman package/price, I can see a whole bunch selling. Unfortunately Ram is only offering the v6 gas engine in a loaded up configuration. So if you want more mpg, you have to buy high profit options. Not quite here yet, but soon. We shall see how it does and its pricing. The same powertrain combo is a $2200-2600 upcharge over the Hemi in the Grand Cherokee.
Now if only Ram can increase the payload on their half tons to pull an 8k pound trail and carry a family.
See, I'm not even that old and I find that to be outrageous. Right around 2000 you could get a stripped down work truck Ram 2500 (vinyl floor, manual windows, etc.) for about $20k. I never thought I would live to see the day that fully optioned 2500 and 3500 pickups are going over $60k. My parents bought their house for $32,000!A recent Ram 1500 road test with the new v6 gas engine, 2WD SLT shortbox no nav, etc had MRSP at almost $38k.
