Gentlemen,
I recently replaced my coolant control module (fried) and have been un-able to get my radio to work again. I have the OBD tool and un-registered software and found the following information. Code 65535 No Errors OR Control Module Malfunction and it lists 127-10 Unknown Error.

My question is do I need to register the software to clear the radio code since I have replaced my coolant control module? The radio shows 1000, I enter the code and it goes to 1 safe, and if I re-enter the code, it goes to 2 safe and I have to leave the key in ignition with radio on for one hour to attempt again. What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like the code you are entering is not correct. IF it is displaying 'safe' that means it still thinks it was stolen and wants a 'correct' 4 digit code.

I don't know what the code you got means, as I can't enter that into the VAG-com software. I suspect that you will have to register the software so that it will display the code message. Even if it don't show it now, Uwe said that another update to the code database was comeing, and it would contain 1500 new message over what is currently there for registered users.

The code I have has worked before when I had a battery problem. I got the Stealer to check the radio serial number and look it up the code in the database. The code worked then and the shop forman gave me the code. So...I dont know what is going on and I am DESPERATE FOR TUNES!

OK guys, the code checks out with the stealer and it still will not play the radio. It's a mystery...

When did you enter the code?

I know on my A3 radio if you entered an incorrect code 3 times you had to wait some insane amount of time (like 3 hours with key on) before the radio would unlock with the correct code.

Maybe this applies here?

Ok Guys, who has a stock radio just lying around that needs to be tested in my car? Went by the stealer today and had them check the code, play with un-plugging fuses, removing radio and all sorts of whitch-craft, but NO TUNES....
SO, does someone have a stock 98 NB radio they no longer need?
