Hi Everyone,

Just looking for some advice after a bunch of reading…

I have a 2004 Audi A4 1.8t Quattro 6 speed manual swapped over to a BHW from a North American Passat.

it’s running a edc15p 038906019LJ that has supposedly a very mild mild tune (stock boost it seems from my OBDeleven MVB checks) with EGR deleted

Has the soot trap / diesel cat deleted but still has the stock Centre resonator and rear dual mufflers and dual exhaust.

I am considering buying a set of injectors with bosio r783 nozzles installed , but they are used and the person is not sure where they were installed as he bought them from someone else. $450 cdn I can get them for….

I am worried about issues with the injectors but also whether I really need them as it sounds like I don’t really need them as I don’t even intend to go any bigger turbo than a BV43A or GT1856.

also currently not sure if it’s been swapped to a 240mm clutch or not , I need to pull the inspection cover and see . Also to see if it’s actually a south bend stage 2 clutch (supposedly put in by previous owner but I have no proof) clutch is working well though.

TL:DR
Do I really need some second hand bosio r783 pd injectors with no real history for $450cdn to get to 250-300hp on my BHW swapped Audi B6? Or is this a sketchy way to get injectors ?

250 is a good condition 073AL maxed out, so yeah. you need bigger if you want to get more. even if you only wanted 250, with bigger nozzles you can have safer egt with larger injectors. buying them secondhand is not something i'd prefer, powertdi.pl sells 100-120-160% injectors which i used in the past with good results.

With the powerTDI folk, be darn sure you are getting what you need. As in *NOT a PDE1.3 injector.

i don't think pde1.1 or 1.3 matters, as long as BIP maps are matched to the correct one. in some cases, even BIP is the same for them (073F which is p1.1 and 073AL which is p1.3 share the same bips for example).

i even heard rumors that the 1.1 (or so called "big magnetic valve") is able to flow more, but i've never seen proof of it...

I think I am going to pass on these secondhand injectors. I have more leg work and figuring out to do as I don’t know what’s in the car right now for injectors.

it’s a BHW engine which ran a edc16 ecu but now in my swap is running with a edc15p ecu from an a4 pd130 avf.

I was told my the previous own that there was trouble with and injector/injectors and that’s been fixed. The car runs well really and is using 8L/100k on winter diesel here in Canada , thermostat Seems to be working ok but only gets to 82C.

so for all I know I could have a car running BHW injectors with an edc15p ecu . Would that be wrong regarding pde 1.1 or 1.3 or bips maps ? Sorry I did some googling and searching and am just beginning to understand those terms.

i think any injector can be matched to both edc15/16, regardless of partnumber or pde number. i've personally done edc16->edc15 (073H injectors which came in edc16 touareg), and i've seen others do edc15->edc16 (073F from passat b5 ajm to audi a4 b7).

i don't know how cold it gets there, but i only used like 6.5l/100km during the winter and my car is tuned to about 240 hp. so 8l/100km isn't great in my opinion.

If I remember well, the US BHW has smaller injectors than AVF, like 510 vs 520, so you might injecting less than you think you do and mileage from Cluster to be wrong.
Otherwise, you don't really need the bosio injectors, but if they are really good, they help. And a BV43A would be a nice upgrade.
