For those of you who have done the swap, I have seen some different stuff. I have a BRM race pipe and I plan to delete all the egr ect. Will there be a problem reaching the intercooler pipe? Or is this negated with the race pipe. A picture of the swap in a ALH would also be super helpful. Thanks in advance as always.

I saw Douglas did it on a bew. I don't totally undertand the fitment and how it relates to intercooler piping and ect.

The bew 'J' hose to manifold assembly( asv/egr) is via the clip connection. I took an ALH pipe/'J' hose and stuck it on the BEW's hard pipe that comes from the IC outlet.

If you don't mind using the bew clip hose and asv you can use the brm egr section and everthing bolts up and lines up perfect.
Just saw this now, and just to double check, are you saying EGR and ASV from the BRM, or EGR from the BRM with a BEW ASV?

I saw a old thread a while back where someone used a dremel and carefully cut the dog collar off and used a constant tension clamp to connect it to a race pipe on a bew with a pd150 manifold. Thats the route im going

Edit: I totally looked over that this was about the brm manifold on alh. Disregard my rambling

Here are pics of a BRM intake on an ALH while retaining the ALH EGR/ASV. I used stock piping otherwise. Also is pics of the little brackets I made to support the piping.

Yeah that's one good option, I'm actually looking to delete the stock EGR valve entirely as it is leaking anyway

Race pipe negates the shortage in length problem.

Reviving thread to ask: does anyone know of a good source for a BRM racepipe? Found a couple on tdiupgrades.com but their vendor accountability thread is rough

Amazon id think. Just buy the BRM EGR delete kit and use the race pipe

I believe if you buy a race pipe for a BRM it will be too long when the intake is mounted on an ALH. The bolt pattern for the pipe is different as well from BRM - ALH.

I may be wrong

You apparently can get the stock ALH 90 on a BRM race pipe if you boil it and stretch it

BlackHaze Diesel in Canada has a racepipe for an ALH to BRM manifold. I have one. It fits pretty well. Have also made two. 2" AL tubing, roll a bead, and weld it to a plate with a 3-hole pattern( evenly spaced on 84mm circle ). a 4 Jaw chuck allows precise boring of the 2" hole to fit the tube. TIG weld them together. Either silicone it to seal, or cut an o-ring groove whilst on the lathe boring it... :)

EGR section from a BRM with BEW ASV bolted to it. The length should be perfect for an ALH install, using the BEW rubber clip hose. The BRM EGR section needs to be modified by cutting the egr flange off and welding the hole shut. Or, it may fit with just a block off plate. I cut and welded mine.

I ended up making my own BRM race pipe and using a BRM ASV and rubber clip hose and made a new upper inter cooler pipe. (The BRM rubber hose won’t fit an ALH upper pipe, it’s bigger than the ALH, just for clarification.)
Also I believe the BEW and BRM ASV’s are nearly identical and have the same bolt pattern. Not actually sure what makes them different unless the clip connections are slightly different sizes, never had the two side by side to compare.

Thought i saw them on darkside last i looked
Theirs look good, seems to only be available in a kit.. the silicone 90 looks right to fit factory alh plastic charge pipe

Cool, thank you

To clarify: I didn't use the BRM upper hose, I used the BEW upper hose, clipped into the BEW ASV. The BEW upper hose fits perfectly on the ALH upper pipe. And yes, the BEW ASV bolts directly to the BRM EGR section. BRM intake>BRM EGR section>BEW ASV>BEW upper hose>ALH upper pipe. It all fits perfectly together.

That's what got going on right now, lines up good, looks stock, but I'm hunting for boost leaks and there's a few suspect areas in the assembly already rtv'd once and think are leaking a little air.
Your system was partly the inspiration for mine actually, I remember you had posted a pic of it a while back.
How's your setup holding up? Any signs of leakage/weepage?
