This is for the under achievers/short commuters to post on. I made the 200k club 4 years ago and have been working at this milestone since! I am not a commuter so I don't rack up miles by the week but instead this is my trip car (be it out of town or out of state trips, mostly to AZ).

Now that I made it this far, it is on to the 300k goal. When I look back at where all the miles have taken me, I also recall all the bumps and bruises along the way and the close calls that can put a car in the junk yard, putting an end to the mileage run.

I bought the Jetta used in 01 with 21k on it and never thought that 14 1/2 years later that it would still be in my garage. Now I have thoughts of what would I do when I don't have a car like this.

I have to say that it has been the most enjoyable vehicle I have owned.

Drive more and worry less!

Obviously RacerTodd, you are in a class of your own! I have a hard time doing the math to figure how long it would take me to reach that mileage!

Not quite there yet with my 2009 JSW @ 247,000 miles.
I am driving this car now and my wife is driving her "new" 2013 JSW so the miles are not building up as fast.
Will be there at the next oil change though.

2000 Beetle - 341,000 miles last week

I replaced the 4 speed auto with the 5 speed manual at 252,000 miles.

Bought used at 65,000 miles in Mar 2003.

Last 10 tanks AVERAGING over 48 MPG. Mostly used as a commuter now - but my commute is 37 miles each way.

I am only at 238K on my '02. Just changed the front brakes a couple months ago for the FIRST time.
I joked with my friends; "If I have to change the brakes on this car every quarter million miles I am getting rid of this junker!"

Holy smokes...just to clarify those are miles not km right?
Yup. Miles. The TDI replaced my old '87 gasser Golf that I sold with 654K. All you have to do to rack up those kinda miles is be a small package courier, driving 45-55K per year.

I'm coming up on 1.5 million miles driven total, with almost 1.3 million of those in my VWs.

Since I bought her in '08 she's missed exactly 8 days of work. That's 8 days out of 2000 or so, a 99.5% uptime rate.

Needless to say - I LOVE my VWs!

Holy smokes. That's some serious driving amigo. You should have submitted to Vw for the record book, who knows. That's the most I've ever heard for a Vw

My 02 Golf turned 400 just today! Only 400,000 Km (about 240,000 miles) but I'm aiming for 500,000 Km. Only major repair so far is rear calipers and alternator. Still purrs and v little rust.

Wow! Y'all put my car to shame. You guys make 187k on my 98 jetta seem youthful! I can not wait to see 250k miles out of mine. With a new head, cam, injectors, and a few other fun items, the only thing I see between me and 250k miles is a clutch and maybe a turbo! Racertodd, very impressive numbers you have racked up. I only drive around 300-400 miles a week so my numbers are slowly going up! Drive more and worry less is right! These cars, while sometimes pushing our patience and wallets, are the best commuter cars and I could not fathom owning anything other than a TDI ever since I switched over from my 4mpg gasser truck a few years back! Nothing like a good family of forum members to put the cherry on top.

I hit 250k on my ALH TDI in Nov. 2014, after I'd bought it in May '00. Sold it on Monday, just shy of 269k.

295,000 miles probably hit 300,000 this year.

My PP520's have 200,000 miles on them so I am probably going to go with PP764's and RC4.5 before I get to 300,000

I made it into the One Third of a Million Mile club in my 02 Golf TDI, bought new in 2002.

Poor quality and grainy cell phone pic. The instrument cluster brightness was way down and at night when I took the pic. I planned to catch it when it turned 333,333 miles and showed 333.3 miles on the trip meter. I reset the trip meter to 000.0 when the odo reached 333,333 miles. I was watching and waiting for it. I didn't keep the car long enough to catch it at 444,444 miles on the odo and 444.4 miles on the trip meter. At "only" 361k miles, I sold the car in 2010 to a coworker whose son needed a car for college. The car is still on the road today at around 400k miles in the hands of the second owner.

My standard answer to longevity questions when they come up is "I'm only at <fill in the blank> miles and it's still too early to tell how long it will last."

How long can a properly maintained TDI last?? The world may never know....

1/3 million miles

Finally beat the mileage of my old Volvo 144, which only made it to 312,000 - and I did and engine rebuild on that one at about 200,000.

I'm overdue for a timing belt, which I better get changed soon, if I have any hope of getting to 1/2 million.

Hit the quarter mark a few months ago with my 04 Jetta wagon. Working on 300k now! She’s a little rough but she’s a solid runner and is perfect for my commute.
