I recently bought a pair of headlight assemblies from 1A Auto, and after installing them in my beetle, the aim was way off, so I tried turning the adjustment screws, and nothing happened. I turned them one direction until they got tight, then the other direction. No movement in the light. I am frustrated.

Now, on a pair of maybe a bit higher quality lights with the same design, the screws would probably adjust the headlights, but if you turn them too far (which is really easy), something breaks or pops, and there goes $200.

The lights I've mentioned are all of this model, which is the VW design:

Another option is these:

where the back looks like:

These seem equally cheap, as the gasket doesn't even wrap around the whole light. I've read comments about difficulty adjusting these lights too.

Both of these types of lights have a black version as well.

And that's all I can find. I really want some quality headlights, but it seems like none exist. Has anyone else had luck getting new lights on their beetle?

I just recently bought a set for my '02 bug from Boraparts that were Bosch (which are basically OE by American Lighting) and were identical in every way to what was in there. They were like around $360 delivered for the set. I have seen some of the after market ones...not in my car! ECS tuning also has the Bosch headlight.
Call Boraparts and he can fix you up.
